Pianotarium is a music project consisting of primarily Piano and Percussion featuring Scott D. Davis and Bryan Gallinger. Pianotarium began with renditions of popular rock/hard rock/heavy metal songs done by Scott D. Davis on Piano (*Rockfluence and Pianotarium albums). In January of 2010, Bryan joined the project adding powerful and unique percussion elements to some of the existing songs. Simultaneously they will be doing more renditions of other hard rock/metal songs in addition to writing original songs. Pianotarium was invited to perform at 2010’s NAMM conference. It is an honorable benefit show for Deftone’s bass player Chi who has been in a coma for over a year after his horrible car accident back in November, 2008. In spring of 2010, Scott and Bryan will record and release new albums featuring the added percussion. Soon after they will embark on a North American tour debuting this material live. As they tour, Grassroots Network will be producing simultaneous networking events in major city areas to build a web community to follow music and travel enthusiasts. As the project progresses the goal is to incorporate guest musicians on periodic songs featuring Cello, Vocals, Guitar and potentially more down the road! The next stages of Pianotarium will involve writing original music with goals of releasing material in 2011. This entire project will be well documented with video, blogging and streaming web footage.

 About "Pianotarium" the album

Have you ever wondered how Metallica's driving rhythms, soaring melodies, and classical-like harmonies would sound if they were performed on the most powerful acoustic instrument ever invented? Would "Fade to Black" or "Nothing Else Matters" still be as hauntingly powerful if played only on piano? Could you still head-bang to "Master of Puppets"?

Scott D. Davis, the renowned "rock concert pianist" from California, believed it would work. In fact, he had dreamed of doing this album for years. He also knew it would take much more that just classical training or playing ability to pull it off. Only a true head-banging thrash metal could do the arrangements justice. Someone who's been to the shows, played countless hours of "air guitar" along with the solos, whose practically worn out the grooves of his Metallica albums.

"Pianotarium" reveals, in a new way, the genius that has made Metallica rise above the rest; and proves that the piano is a versatile, powerful instrument capable of so much more than "Classical" or "relaxation" music.

You've probably heard about all the Metallica tribute bands and cover albums that are out there. You might even have "Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos" in your CD collection right now. Awesome band, aren't they? But unfortunately there are also many so-called "tributes" that are little more than a record company's attempt to turn a buck off of the name of a famous artist.

But "Pianotarium" is truly a labor of love, arranged and performed by a die-hard metal-head, who also just happens to be an accomplished pianist. The "guitar solos" are all there, the heavy moments powerful, and the softer harmonies shine through with stunning purity.

And now, in 2010, Scott brings drummer Bryan Gallinger on board to add even more heart pounding pulse to the live performances, as they plan to tour North America and Europe this year. Make sure to sign up for the email list so you don't miss them in your area.
