OWN STYLE
Phantom Club's repertory is completely of their own, influenced by the most pure funky, soul or rock'n'roll.
With lyrics in Spanish, their style and their kind of music walk together with the scenic strength of their members to create a hard link with the audience. That's the main feature of their shows, which are synonymous with party in the bands dictionary, and because of that they're known all around Galicia.
The band, set up in 2002, walks the way of rock and funky by the hand of musicians born in TUI, VIGO, BUENOS AIRES (ARGENTINA) AND LYON (FRANCE).
This great impulse makes the band record their first EP in December 2007, "FUNKSIONA", in the prestigious OCEANO STUDIO in VIGO, with the technical direction of JAVIER ABREU and the Argentinean musician CLAUDIO GABIS, this one also has guitar solos in some the 7 songs of the album.
This collaboration is in addition to the rapper from the States (California) KEYD, who also used to be with SNOOP DOG, and produced one of the tracks of the album, "CALIFORNITEISTION".
Even though it was an independent production more than 2000 copies were sold only in Vigo.
In January 2008 the album was presented in PORTUGAL (Lisbon and Porto), and on March the 7th 2008 the band introduces the new album to the audience of Madrid in the great concert hall SALA EL SOL, in front of more than 300 hundred people and the endorsement of the Argentinean Embassy.
For the rest of 2008 the band takes its place in the Spanish musical scene touring all around the country with more than 80 dates in many festivals and important concert halls in Madrid. Phantom Club is invited to perform in the international VIBRASONS festival (where they opened for the band from NASHVILLE, THE DYNAMITES, with the great Charles Walker) and REPERKUSION festival, what makes the band establish itself and win the BEST LIVE BAND award in the MAKETON ESTRELLA GALICIA AWARDS.
This is the moment when the idea of being the first Galician band recording a live DVD in a theater was born, and it became real on November 20th 2009, with the collaboration of some great artist such as ARIEL ROT, ANDY CHANGO, CLAUDIO GABIS or PABLO NOVOA, and many more musicians of the Galician musical scene.
This live DVD titled "MUCHAS NOCHES BUENAS GRACIAS" was successfully recorded at the AREA PANORAMICA THEATRE in TUI, with a "sold out" poster in the tickets box, 700 hundred people in the theater and more than 300 hundred outside that couldn't get a ticket to watch the concert.
"PURO FUNKY TOWN", one of the singles of the band, and "A DONDE ESTA LA LIBERTAD", Pappo's classic covered by Phantom Club were the two tracks chosen by the starring of the film, the producer Jorge Alvarez, who will do the production of both tracks in the RON TAYLOR studio in MIAMI.
Looking for new horizons Frans Banfield has moved to Berklee College in Boston for some months where is being mixing and mastering the second disc " Muchas noches, Buenas gracias!"
This way, is how Phantom Club keeps trying to get their objective, establishing their selves in the musical scene as a Rock'n'roll and funky discharge, offering the musical market a different way of making music.
