BIOGRAPHY – Peter Gayle - Singer, Song Writer, Musician

Peter Gayle grew up in the Kingston 13 area where he went to Tavares All Age School. His mother moved to Waterford where he attended Waterford Primary School. From there he went to Holy Trinity School. This is where his musical career started as he was drafted into the Holy Trinity School choir.

He was later introduced to Michael (Mickey) Bennett by a family friend where he had the privilege to record several songs on the Two Friends label. Some of these include a duet with Dennis Brown “The Prince of reggae” entitled “Night like This” which was featured on Dennis’ “Overproof” album. While working with Two Friends crew he was given the name “Petermann” and his recordings were done using this alias. His first recording was “Come on Girl” on the Two Friends Label. He has also done recordings for Donovan Germaine on the Penthouse label, Sylvester Gordon at Cell Block studios, Hopeton Lindo on the Iriepen label and Sly and Robbie on the Taxi label. He has been on world tours with the Home T Band, Chevelle Franklyn, Brian and Tony Gold, Wailers Band and the “Rhythm Twins” Sly and Robbie, doing background vocals and working as Road Manager.

After touring with the Wailers for two years he took a break from the music business and in 2005 he decided to reenter the musical fraternity and so he entered the JCDC popular song competition with “A New Day” written by himself and Hopeton Lindo . He was voted to be one of the ten finalists and although he was not the winner, he was voted most disciplined artist and has been asked to perform at several functions.

A prolific song writer, musician and entertainer, he has written songs with Mickey Bennett and Hopeton Lindo. Peter Gayle has also contributed to Marcia Griffith’s “Shining Time” album and more recently “Turf” by Hopeton Lindo which is currently number 2 on the Richie B's Hot 102 album Charts. The song “Stand up for Love” which is a duet with Hopeton is being played on the radio stations here in Jamaica and around the world including popular internet stations like SupremeVybes based in Florida and Jamrock Radio based in the United Kingdom. He is currently with Hopeton Lindo IriePen Productions, and Zlink Entertainment family, home and management for Cherine Anderson.

Some of his songs are now available on Itunes, produced by Cellblock Studio namely “Wonderful Tonight” a cover of Eric Clapton’s original, A New Day and others.
