PerkinsWood (1997 – present) is American recording artists and composers, Jeff Perkins and Ann Wood. PerkinsWood music is guitar-based psychedelic instrumentals. They wrote the score for the documentary feature, "Heart of the King" by Shane Stuart and Andrew Lankes. PerkinsWood albums include: Roll (2007), Son of Sparkle (2005), and Guitar Island (2004).
All PerkinsWood recordings were engineered by Jeff Perkins in his studio, "Tape Master Studios" using reel to reel tape and primarily vintage instruments and equipment.
Perkins and Wood are self-taught musicians who began writing music during the post-punk movement of the mid 80's in Athens/ Atlanta, GA and Columbia, MO respectively. Wood's early bands include: the Arts Sluts (1984-85), Holidays and Famous Dead People (1987), and solo ventures. Perkins' early bands include Big Wall of Shit (1986) and Big Wall of Fish -- an early incarnation of Big Fish Ensemble.
Perkins and Wood were the primary songwriters and guitarists in Hypedelic (1988-1989), Columbia, MO and Dew (1991-1997), Atlanta, GA. Dew was critically acclaimed (reviews at www.PerkinsWood.com) and sited by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as Atlanta's premier instrumental rock band.
Dew released the following CD's on Sister Ruby Records: Christmas Presents Vol. II -- surf punk revision of "We Three Kings" (1993), 4 song sampler on Amplified Vol. I (1994), Sing Monkey Sing (1996) and on Daemon Records, the "Overture" for Jesus Christ Superstar – a Resurrection (1995) with Atlanta bands including the Indigo Girls.
