Pepe Alva, born in Ohio in 1971, is of Peruvian decent and in fact moved to Peru at the age of one and returned to the States at 17. This clearly explains his musical influences that range from latin rock legends Charly García and Fito Páez to their anglo counterparts Peter Gabriel and Sting. Alva has crossed boundaries when he signed to major record label Warner Music three years ago and moved to Mexico were he has made a name of his own as a respected musician. His use of native Peruvian instruments such as the charango and zampoña add charm and warmth to his happy yet profound lyrics. His compositions have earned him fans all over the world with catchy melodies and a sound so strong and unique that cannot be compared to any of his influences and much less to the artists of his generation. Stepping into diverse realms of musical existence, Pepe can express the feeling of how we should all treat each other as family, with respect, and that we should enjoy life and keep a positive attitude. These are lyrics talk about the purest of sentiments, filled with compassion and a positive attitude that our world is so desperately in need of. But his musics force really relies more in the music itself: the melodies, the intros, the outros, the brigdes, the grooves, the chops it's all about the sound of his music, the sound of his voice, regardless the content of what he is talking about at the moment.
