Thanks to a never ending avalanche of commercially produced, mundane, syrupy

AM candy we've endured over the years, pretty songs in english generally

leave a cynical, saccharine aftertaste.

In the buzzing, sexy, airy ballads and sambas of Afro/Brazillian music,

sweetness plays against the crushing and often bitter reality of the life of

the poor and working class.

Patrizia's ethereal, yet straightforward style and intuitive phrasing, sung

in her achingly beautiful voice, combines with some of Brazil's most beloved

and haunting ballads, to reveal a wholy unique reality.

Her original music is personal, poignant and

revealing, rich in emotion and startling in it's honesty.

Patrizia Ferrara was born into the bicultural home of her Sicilian father and Austrian mother. Raised on the border of Italy and South Austria, she studied jazz and composition at the Gustav Mahler Conservatory in Vienna, graduated with honors in 2003 and started her career in Vienna touring with different bands. Working with African, Arabic, Italian, Cuban, Colombian, Brazilian and American singers and musicians opened my ears to all kinds of music and ways to tell a story.

My new love is the nylon string guitar, I picked up playing this wonderful instrument last year and can't stop ever since. Nothing can beat this instrument, it's beautiful mellow tone is closest to the human voice in my opinion.

You can read more about me on my homepage www.patriziaferrara.com

In 2004 I met the wonderful singer and composer Dean Bowman and the great pianist Danny Grissett in Europe. In 2005 I did my first New York tour with Dean Bowman sponsored by the Austrian Culture Institute. I then decided to stay in New York. Since my arrival to New York I have been a part of various singer/songwriter showcases and performed with my group at the Blue Note late night groove series, 55 Bar, Zinc Bar, Smoke, Sweet Rhythm, Austrian Culture Forum. Patrizia Ferrara has worked and or toured and recorded with John Heard, Dean Bowman, Vinx, James Weidman, Danny Grissett, Lonnie Plaxico, Kyle Eastwood, DJ DSL, Urbs (G-Stone Records the label of Kruder and Dorfmeister), John Sass, Stereotyp (G-Stone Records), Al Haka, and the poet Christian Ide Hintze and Edi Koehldorfer.

Performance highlights in Europe and the Middle East include Joe Zawinul's Birdland, Porgy & Bess, Vienna City Festival, Cafe ZAN in Ramallah/Palestine, and the Italian Consul General in Jerusalem.

I'm fortunate to travel a lot and to meet many talented people around the globe. If you are around please come by and say hello I would be happy to meet you.

As much as I love music I love mother nature in all it's beauty and I'm trying to live a conscious life not wasting the precious resources she gives us. To all of the people I can reach here on this GREAT music space.

We have all seen the changes around the world. The time for avoiding what's happening has passed and so we move on to new ways of working out how to create a sustainable lifestyle.

There are brilliant minds all over the world coming up with new ways to provide us with ways of living the way we have grown to love that will have far less impact on this beautiful world. It's time to support those new ways. It's time to teach others when we find them.

Short term change for long term gain.

Peace and blessings,

Patrizia Ferrara
