Critically-acclaimed LA-based Colombian , Palenke Soultribe, have taken electronic music to new heights by deconstructing Afro-Colombian rhythms and blending them with underground beats and exploratory synthesizer sounds. Palenke Soultribe (PST) represents the new generation of Colombian musicians ready to break all the rules.

Palenke Soultribe was created in Los Angeles in 2005 by Colombian producers Juan D. Borda ( AKA Insectosound) and Andres Erazo ( AKA Popa) and later joined by drummer/percussionist A.Zuluaga. Under WC-Music Records and up to 2008, they have released a vinyl named "Folkloric Deconstruktion" (2005); followed by their first album called "Tropic an Heaven" (2007 )( album that was awarded with the Independent Music Awards 2008 in the Dance/Electronica category; and a compilation of remixes entitled "Tropico y Cielo".
Their latest album release, ORO (2009), shows a development in the sound of the project. The release marks as the first in a trilogy of albums whose titles allude to the colors of the Colombian flag: yellow (Oro), blue (Downtempo) and red (Dance/Electonica). Oro has created a major buzz among critics and fans alike with its 10 pulsating tracks featuring a unique blend of American and European breakbeats and eletro-dance grooves with touches of traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms. Influential publications in the general and Latin media, including Billboard mag, New York Post, Campus Circle, KCRW have all sung their praises for the album.

Collaborations on Oro come courtesy of today's top artists, including Cesar Pliego from the Grammy nominated band Kinky, Toddy Ivy, Mr. Vallenato and Miami's own Grammy/Latin Grammy nominated band Locos Por Juana. Other musical heavyweights add their own flavor on production of the album like Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Sr. Mendez (Calle 13), Elastic Bond, Montana Jose and Blanali (FBME Records).

The first single, "No Voy A Morir" has been making much noise since its release. It was immediately embraced by tastemaker radio. The track was recently selected as one of KCRW's "Today's Top Tune" and has consistently been on rotation on KPFK's "Travel Tips for Aztlan" ever since the band debuted it during their recent in-studio appearance. The future looks bright for Palenke Soultribe as they begin pre-production on the next installment of the trilogy. Look out for new music coming your way soon. Stay tuned.
LOS ANGELES, CA - USA :: JUN 30 "No Voy a Morir" Top Tune @ KCRW.
I must admit, the first time I put Palenke Soultribe in the player I danced
in my living room. They are an Los Angeles-based band, exploring the Afro-Colombian connection with an electronic vibe. Today's Top Tune is
"No Voy A Morir."
