A minimalist strumming style to say the least, with an absolutely beautiful, haunting voice. In a way, she struck me as a bit of a female Thom Yorke, except without any trace of pretension.
- Consequence of Sound

The track [Around Again- Island Mix] builds on a dense guitar sound and Manning's silky smooth vocal delivery that eventually climaxes with a distorted second vocal track and some super minimal drums. Sonic indicators from Julie Doiron and slowcore pioneers like Low are definitely at play, but this song stands on its own and points to potentially great things on LOOM's debut.

The voice of Canadian Brooke Manning a.k.a LOOM could almost make me forget that the main function of heart is that of ejecting blood and not that of beating so hard it can't release itself. My blood is nonetheless filled with her tone, floating and irrigating each cell eager with life. Sweet jail, I love your capture!

Brooke Manning is LOOM. Channeling life through her voice and her guitar, she creates an honest and striking reflection of herself. Over swells of flowing music, Brooke's unique approach to music making and melody give her music an honesty and realness that is all too rare. Often relying on the moment, space, or vibe of the crowd, her ethereal live performances have grown from candle lit séances into cathartic events where she bonds a crowd of strangers with her magnetism. Using the guitar in an unconventional way, creating her own chords of repetition and drone via simple plucking patterns, she is able to utilize her instrument in a way that fits her cascading melodies. Her vocals and lyrics quickly become the highlight to each song.
Active since 2009, Brooke has established a strong fan base rather quickly. November 2010 brought Brooke to a residency at Gibraltar Point on Toronto Island where she recorded her first full length record over the course of 3 days. The record features her friends and beautifully talented musicians Thom Gill (THOMAS, Owen Pallett), Maya Postepski (Austra, Trust), Elaine Kelly (Carnival Moon, The Wilderness of Manitoba), and Dan Pencer. Engineered by Dale Morningstar, mixed and mastered by Sandro Perri, LOOM's first record entitled EPYLLION is set to be released OCTOBER 11, 2011. It has already received much buzz and is expected to be a highly anticipated independent release. Brooke and Thom will be touring as LOOM in support across the continent in the fall of 2011.
