My name is Owen Nicolas. I've played in Sexcapades, Lagues, and Vein Cranes (the cranes record is almost sold out so pick it up while you can from florida's dying).
This page contains two of my (owen nicolas) musical endevours. the first is my solo project, "Raw Dealer". I play some one-man shows, but i'm building a full band. I'll have demos and finished songs within the month, and from there i'm fishing for a label to release two singles and an LP.

I finally saw Orlando two-piece Lagues (Aug. 5, Will's Pub) and am now in love with their awesomely ragged and skuzzy garage racket. They're comprised of a guitarist husband and bassist wife who divide the drum duties between not just themselves but their feet while they play. He works the kick, snare and cymbal while she does the high hat and tambourine. Together, they got that beautifully nasty blare-and-feedback action going on. Sure, there are some great, sometimes sweet melodies and all. But if I could bottle the sound from her bass guitar, I would, just to carry it around with me and bust it out whenever I needed a pick-me-up.

"Orlando's Lagues, made up of guitarist Owen Nicolas and wife Denise Moberley on bass, add a high stage-presence quotient by using their legs to handle their percussion. "That's what our name refers to," the long-haired Nicolas told me after their set, which doesn't explain the word's creative spelling, but ZZ Top probably won't mind. Moberley had a hi-hat cymbal set to stomp on, and Nicolas handled the kickdrum half of the beats with his feet and added a drumstick that he alternately used to bash a cymbal and the strings of his guitar on "Holy Spirit," a little slice of Link Wray stashed in their set of knuckle-length songs.
This all-limb approach toughened up Lagues already sinister dirty garage rock, and Nicolas wasn't afraid to hammer home the point with some sour utterances ("You ain't shit") and a frustrated "What have you done for me?" in a song we think was called "God, a Façade." The pair, who also play in the Sexcapades and D. and the Sluts, took a stab at a vulnerable close, and when Nicolas sang that he's "not fucking around" and that they're "not gonna drown," it was comforting to see his wife there to hear it."

"At the tail end of their Fishscales tour (this is not a pun), Lagues are playing alongside the equally fuzzed-out the Band in Heaven, though the latter's namesake is a hint to its distortion being of a softer, prettier variety.
Lagues, a husband-and-wife duo from Orlando, plays gritty (awesome) psychedelica that pays heavy homage to surf and garage from decades past. Upon first listen, "Holy Spirit" could be a reworked, creepy, and cavernous version of Link Wray's rockabilly building block "Rumble." Lagues is defiantly and effortlessly filthy and will provide a grungy contrast to the starry-eyed openers, the Band in Heaven, whose blissful shoegaze is so heady you will be reeling in a cloud of your own stoned haze by the set's end."

"LAGUES hail from ORLANDO, not far from the JR (Jungle Rot) home base of Gainesville and they're making some of the best minimal psychedelic rock n' roll in the whole damn state.
The band is composed of husband and wife duo, Denise and Owen Nicolas, switching off on drums, guitar, organ, bass, what the fuck ever.
They'll be heading out on a GEORGIA/FLORIDA tour on the 11th, so if they're coming to your city you should drag your slimy ass out and peep their show."
