DESCRIPTION:
About this song; I wrote it a few days after 9/11. I watched the towers from the roof top of The Joyce Theater on 19th St & 8 Ave. What was all around me was not panic, but a calmness. Everyone was looking out for people they didn't know, sometimes even carrying them. Not only had I never witnessed anything like the towers that day, but the kindness and unselfishness of the everyday people was equally stunning. I dedicate this song to the FDNY Ladder 12 ( The Dirty Dozen , a block away from The Joyce Theater) and all those who lost love ones that day.
Music produced by Eliott Moa.
Like No Other Place
No matter what has placed you here
The brightest truth was made so clear
One life, one heart, one face
Let the world see
Luv in the big city
Like no other place
Six o'clock in the morning
Time to deal with the crowd
A cold splash, hot coffee
The headphones just shy of loud
All the people check their watches
Make sure they're runnin' on time
How the whole world will soon change
Is the last thing on anyone's mind
No matter what has placed you here
luv, money or fame
The brightest truth was made so clear
that we all feel the same
One life, one heart, one face
Let the world see
Luv in the big city
Like No Other Place
Everything rushed down on the street
Everyone looked up to the skies
What seemed like a bad B movie
Was being played out before their eyes
Calls to loved ones, everybody tryin' to get through
To a voice that says "I'm all right."
And then asks "Where are you? "
No matter what has placed you here
The brightest truth was made so clear
that we all feel the same
One life, one heart, one face
Let the world see
Luv in the big city
Like no other place
In spite of the selfishness
That makes this world so cold
Some gave their all
And the stories still unfold
If what we have in common
Stays focused in our minds
Then life will go healing
One day at a time
Six o'clock in the evening
Tonight there'll be no rest
Lend a hand to the thousands
Standing up to the test
No dividing of colors
No questions about one's faith
Just people helping people
From harm's way to somewhere safe
No matter what has placed you here
luv, money or fame
The brightest truth was made so clear
that we all feel the same
One life, one heart, one face
Let the world see
Luv in the big city
Like no other place
