STP originally formed in April 1983, as Sharon Tate's Phoetus, when Chris [ex Post Mortem] met the other four hanging out in Harvard Square posin', and bummin' change. At the time they were the youngest band in Boston with an average age of 14 1/2. The original lineup was: Vocals: Chris Jordan Guitar: Cliff Truesdell Guitar: Jono Kornfeld Bass: Jordan Wood Drums: Alex Hall The band played their first show at the Pilot school May Fair, and their second show at The Rat in June of 1983 [w/ DXA, and Violation]. Cliff left the band immediately afterwards due to chronic lethargy, he was replaced in August with Johnny Horton [ex Common Front]. Vocals: Chris Jordan Guitar: Johnny Horton Guitar: Jono Kornfeld Bass: Jordan Wood Drums: Alex Hall They played a show with Impact Unit, and a live radio show at Brandeis. Late in '83 Jordan and Jono left to form Deathwish. Soon after that in early '84 STP took a break to pursue other endeavors such as: trashing houses, doing drugs, and doing drunken runaways. STP reformed in late '89 but with a new lineup. Arthur replaced Jono on guitar, Rob [ex Common Front] replaced Jordan on bass and Billy [thankfully] had replaced Alex on drums. after much arm twisting Chris convinced the band to take Cliff back. Vocals: Chris Jordan Guitar: Cliff Truesdell Guitar: Arthur Gottschalk Bass: Rob Stratton Drums: Billy Sylvester With this lineup, the band recorded four tracks ["Social Crisis", "Three Times Down", "Sick" and "Fuck 'Em"] and released it as the "Sick Plus Three" demo in February of 1990. Rob left the band in July of 1990 and Chris invited John "Kid" Kozik aboard to replace him. Vocals: Chris Jordan Guitar: Cliff Truesdell Guitar: Arthur Gottschalk Bass: John Kozik Drums: Billy Sylvester The band recorded 7 tracks ["Hate Is The Move", "When I'm Gone", "Social Crisis", "Wake Up", "Isn't It Love", "Die" and "Cereal Killer"] for their second demo,"Hate Is The Move", in September of 1990. Four of the tracks from the "Hate Is The Move" demo ["Hate Is The Move", "Die", "When I'm Gone" and "Wake Up"] where released together as the "Hate Is The Move" 7" single on Lost & Found Records in 1991. Lost & Found Records later put out an un-authorized CD. The CD has the complete "Hate Is The Move" demo on it plus two songs stolen from a cassette from a 3rd, [and final] studio session ["Step Off" and "Only Lies"]. There was a final lineup in 92, but they didn't do shit with it. Vocals: Chris Guitar: Cliff Guitar: Milton Bass: John Drums: Sam STP also contributed with two tracks ["Social Crisis" and "Three Times Down"] to the compilation "Boston Hardcore 89-91" issued [unfortunately] by Taang! Records in 1995. The band received a total of 12 copies as payment. Chris and John released another STP 7" single on their Boston's Finest label, with original [unpirated] versions of "You Can Run" and "Only Lies". It sounds better than the versions on the Lost & Found CD [because they weren't stolen from a cassette]. It rocked because it had Taras from Wrecking Crew on drums, and it includes the sleeve [of a naked chick tied up] that Uwe of Lost & Found initially rejected (no balls) for the "Hate Is The Move" 7" single. STP's final show was w/ the bruisers at the Channel in December '92. they broke up for good in 1994 after Arthur died.
