Open Wounds a été créé en 2001 par des jeunes qui avaient mené auparavant des projets punk, ska, hardcore et death metal. Ils sont originaires des banlieus ouest de Montréal. Dans une démarche résolument de confrèrerie musicale et de fraternité. La formation s'investit quelques jours par semaine pour créer une musique qui le lui est propre. Ils opèrent une fusion étonnante de grind/punk touchant à quelque reprise le mélodique. Cependant, le brutal semble le chemin donc le groupe tente de plus en plus à s'orienter.



La formation sortit leur premier cd "The Everyday Struggle" cette année (2008). Le disque comporte 8 chansons enregistrées live incluant un intro, une pièce de piano et un outro. Il a été enregistré et masterisé au Saphir par Mathieu Simard. Les voix ont été enregistrées par Hassan, Maxime et mixé par Sebastien. Le lancement officiel a été organisé à l'Île Perrot devant une centaine de leurs ami(es).



Open Wounds est un collectif engagé(e) de jeunes et moins jeunes luttant contre l'oppression, la tyrannie et l'exploitation. Leurs textes traîtent de sujets concernent la justice, la liberté et la solidarité. C'est pourquoi ils se définnissent comme étant un groupe d'humaniste libertaire grindcore.



Open Wounds was created in 2001 by young people who had carried out punk, ska, hardcore and death metal projects before. They are originating in the western banlieus of Montreal. In a step resolutely of musical confrerery and fraternity. The formation is invested a few days per week to create a music which fit best for them. They operate an astonishing mix of grind/punk with melody here and there. However, brutal seems the way the group tries more to be directed.



The formation release their first Cd "The Everyday Struggle" in 2008. The disc had 8 recorded songs live including a intro, a part of piano and a outro. It was recorded and masterisé by Mathieu Simard. The voices were recorded by Hassan, Maxime and mix by Sebastien. The official launch was organized at L'Île-Perrot Island in front of a hundred of their friends .



Open Wounds is a collective of young people fighting against oppression, tyranny and exploitation. Their texts cover subjects relate to war, freedom and solidarity. This is why they are defined as being a group of humanist libertarian grindcore.
