Maybe not! But arriving in Lisbon on a sunny August where life seems to be in slow motion, 148 minutes of conversations with the artist Berry Bickle recorded on minidisk, beats rolling, rimes flowing and a brand new jazz bass, were enough reasons to try.



Kalaf and LilJohn decided to start a one-week musical journey to create 45 minutes of poetry and rhythm. To spice things up, they invited friends and guests such as Melo D, Baggi, Joo Gomes (Spaceboys), Andr Fernandes, Cyz and Dora Cruz.



The concept evolved to music, and Strategies and Survival was born.



The album came out in September 2004 on Enchufada, the label and production centre also created by Liljohn and Kalaf, with exclusive Portuguese distribution by Movieplay Portugal.



After heavy demand from Portuguese fans, the duo decided to form a band in order to present the album Strategies and Survival around Portugal. They also perform as DJ and MC, with LilJohn spinning records and remixing the songs live with his laptop, and Kalaf on the spoken words.
