The forward edge music scene of his home town Austin, Texas helped shape the songwriting talents of John O'Neill but his songs carry his own brand.
Guitar trained by Dick Gimble, the son of Legendary fiddle player Johnny Gimble, John has carved out an innovative acoustic writing style that cries out …listen to me!
John is a multi-talented musician, singer/songwriter and recording artist. Following the risky, lonely, but ultimately successful path of many of country music's greats he writes, performs and records his own music. When you listen to an O'Neill original, you're hearing…
…the country sound of tomorrow today
…a totally new but quickly beguiling melody
…lyrics never heard before but suddenly familiar.
The instrumentation and the recording engineering is performed by John himself and he uses some electric guitar mastery from his friend Ronnie Fitz who toured with Ted Nugent in the 1970's & Jim Dandy of Black Oak Arkansas.
It seems that those who write songs that touch the heart always have a wound that threads through their music. "I've been writing and performing music since I was a kid, but when my closest friend and collaborator was killed in a tragic accident. It set my writing away several years. My life took a detour, a journey to a place away from music but that road narrowed and the path led back to my guitar. That excursion into the main stream wasn't wasted for I found the music inside me changed and a fresh sound emerged.
My friends, family and one of the best Nashville songwriters I know, encouraged me to introduce my new song Dancing with Tiffany. This song is upbeat, full of energy and delivers memorable thoughts about relationships. Dancing with Tiffany lifts respect for women to the forefront and celebrates a real man's love for a worthy wife.
Take a few seconds to listen to Dancing with Tiffany and feel the creativity, depth and talent of this man's music.
