One eskimO are a London-based band formed in 2005 by lead singer Kristian Leontiou, sound designer Craigie Dodds and drummer/percussionist Adam Falkner. One eskimO's impressive breadth of imagination instantly marks them out as something extraordinary.
In 2010 One eskimO's debut single 'Kandi' saw the band harness the US airwaves securing them a 6 week number 1 spot on the AAA charts, receiving the Song of the Year 2010 AAA Music Award. This opened doors to perform on such shows as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel and multiple apperances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, who even called back the band back for Ellen's special birthday show in January 2011.
After signing to US label Shangri La Records, the band loaded into a van and drove themselves across all 50 states to tour the USA the old-fashioned way, collecting new fans in each city they played. They appeared at Coachella and Mile High Festival, and supported the likes of Tricky, Faithless, Tori Amos, Gomez and Michael Franti & Spearhead - all testament to how well the band had managed to translate their album's sound to the stage and prove that their quirky and unique sound can translate to mainstream media.
In 2008 singer leontiou teamed up with animation team, Gravy Media (Nathan Erasmus and Matt Latchford) to produce an animated video for the band's song, 'Hometime', which went on to win the British Animation Award 2008. This video took the band across the pond to secure a partnership with Warner Premiere and together developed a 10-part animated movie "All Balloons" for which One eskimO delivered the story, music, character design and sound-design.
Their new album, 'Faster than Turtles' - due for release later 2012 - sees the band taking things to another level.
Once the sinister chords of opening track 'Sunny Day' make way for the drop of its first weighty kick drum you know that although the writing and vocal talents have remained constant, they are now punctuated by a complete metamorphosis sonically. This overhauled sound reflects all that was and is. A sound fresh found in 'Faster Than Turtles'.
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness."
