Some music is created out of necessity. This is couch music, created late at night. These are songs to have sex to; songs to break-up to. This is the music for the 21st century love story. Interlocking guitars, layered vocals, electronics, and spacious drums have slowly simmered and combined to create a truly unique sound. Songs with honest lyrics, haunting melodies and unexpected harmonies, Olympic Size’s music has always evolved organically.

As the opening act for bands such as Spoon, Holly Golightly, Efterklang, American Music Club, and Smog, Olympic Size has steadily built a following in the local and regional music scene.

Recently, the band composed the score for the short film “We Will Make You Whole Again”, (written and directed by Justin Gardner and Trevor Hawkins) which premiered in Kansas City in April of this year.

Olympic Size is also featured in 72 Musicians (a full length documentary by Bob Moczydlowsky), as well as on the live soundtrack for the film, which you can download for free here.

In 2007, Olympic Size received national attention when their song “Friends” appeared on an episode of MTV's "Real World: Sydney" .

Their 2008 debut full length, "You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone", received rave reviews from local critics across the board and appeared on many "Best of 2008" lists, including Robert Moore of Sonic Spectrum's "Best Album of 2008", and "Best Songs of 2008", and Pitch Weekly music editor, Jason Harper's "Best Local Albums of 2008".

Their limited release EP in 2005, entitled "Set Free", was praised by both Pitch Weekly's music editor Jason Harper (who picked it as one of the Best of 2005), and Robert Moore, who showcased Olympic Size on his nationally recognized radio program, Sonic Spectrum, on a show that featured a live in studio performance and interview with the band.

Check out First Blood, a compilation from Oxblood Records released in 2007, featuring tracks from Olympic Size, Roman Numerals, American Catastrophe, The Republic Tigers and more great Kansas City area bands. Get this awesome compilation online here!
