B I O G R A P H YFrancisco Alfredo Martinez was born on June 11th, 1988 in Los Angeles, CA. The first son of immigrant parents that came from a small country located in Central America, El Salvador. In 2007 he adapted the name CHICO and categorized himself under the genre “Hip-Hop Latino” to distinct his music from Reggaeton, Chicano Rap and others.Music was no passion or even a hobby before his teenage years. But once he was introduced, it became a dream. Like many other great artists, he was open minded and listened to groups such as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Marc Anthony, Deadmau5 and Boyz II Men. Then he found an icon, Detroit's grammy winning rapper, Eminem. Before ever recording through a microphone, he would freestyle and write ideas on a notebook. Through high school his only interested was music and nothing else. Sometimes instead of attending class he would be at a local library reading books upon the business and the technical side. So young and devoted, money was a problem but once he found ways to record demos through karaoke machines and a computer, it was non-stop. He rapidly started networking around the area, and created a reputation.Producer and songwriter Tony Matt (Kalimen) signed under Univision Music Group/Fonovisa was the first to take a chance and became the man behind the development. He then also had the opportunity to collaborate alongside urban pioneer David Rolas currently a DJ in a Los Angeles radio station; Latino 96.3. The talent spoke for itself and earned great feedback from producer David Salas, MC Magic of N.B. Rydaz and The Godfather of Latin Hip-Hop Mellow Man Ace.In 2009 a tribute spanish version of "Eazyer Said Than Dunn" was released under the official online website to the late gangster rap legend, Eazy-E.CHICO has showcased his talent throughout local festivals in Los Angeles through Guatemala's golden boy Gustavo VII. In 2008 he participated out in Fresno for a competition presented by Burger King, “Tu Ciudad Tu Musica”. Upon his own bookings, a few presentations have also been made out in El Paso, Texas and some have been televised, through PBS, KRCA 62 (La Que Buena) and TV Azteca Fresno. Along the journey came the credit of sharing the stage along big names, Khriz y Angel, Kalimen, Lil Blacky, MC Magic, Kid Frost, La Sonora Dinamita, Los Mismos and some of the best local unsigned talent.
