Marq Torien-BulletBoys

There are usually only a small handfull of bands that can stand out and define an era of music . When it comes to the rock 'n' roll resurgence in the late 80's, the BulletBoys are one of the few musical artists whose talent, intensity, and unique style made them rise to the top of their field. While other bands leaned towards a 'bubble-gum' pop-rock style, the BulletBoys had an undeniable groove and R&B vocal flair that won over fans and audiences around the world. Released in 1988, the self-titled BulletBoys debut received high praise with critical acclaim. Immediately, their first single 'Smooth Up In Ya' shot to the top of the music charts. Their next singles, 'Hard as a Rock' and a cover of the O'Jays song, 'For the Love Of Money' helped to skyrocket album sales and secure their place among rock's top artists. Their world tour, which included opening slots for such bands as Ozzy Osbourne and Cinderella, proved to be extremely successful. BulletBoys released their second album Freakshow in 1990. The album spawned the popular singles 'THC Groove', 'Talk To Your Daughter', and a cover of Tom Waits 'Hang On St. Christopher', Freakshow showcased the inventive nature of the BulletBoys music. The album had more twists and turns than the average rock record, and was considered to be alternative rock, even before alternative was what it is today.

The band released ZaZa, their third Warner Brothers album, in 1993. While the rock n roll era was coming to an end, the Bulletboys proved that certain bands would be able to survive and continue to put out great rock records. While still considered a rock album, ZaZa was much more of a pop record than their previous two releases. The band had hits with the singles 'When Pigs Fly' and 'Mine'.

Bulletboys put out their fourth record Acid Monkey in 1995, and toured the country in support of it. While the album was not as successful in terms of sales as its predecessors, Acid Monkey showcased the band's progression and evolution in songwriting, while still spotlighting the musicianship and vocal talents that made them stars.

In April of 1999, the four original members reunited for a Performance at Maverick Stadium in Adelante, California. The band, overwhelmed by the response from the sellout crowd, could not deny that the chemistry they once shared was still there. As a tribute to their fans, the four members agreed to join forces to re-record all of their hits for the Burning Cats and Amputees release in 2000. Bulletboys released Sophie in 2003, Greatest Hits in 2005 and a live recording in 2007 titled Behind The Orange Curtain.

Having toured the world over, flamboyant frontman Marq Torien has reinvented the band catapulting the Bulletboys to a new rock 'n' roll force majeure that is fresh sounding and very relevant in today's music scene.

Bulletboys has recently released their new record "10Cent Billionaire" which is sure to be nothing less than astonishing.
