German power metal force BRAINSTORM is unstoppable on their mission. Their fantastic new studio album “Memorial Roots” again displays what this great band is all about and convinces with powerful sound and perfect songwriting; the Swabian force is back!
After 7 successful releases that steadily built the band's reputation, they thought it was time to modify their sound and try something different here and there, but without losing sight of what BRAINSTORM stands for. The band has never sounded more mature than here, thanks to producer team Sascha Peath and Miro, from Wolfsburg's Gate studios, who also raised the sound of bands like Kamelot, Edguy and Rhapsody Of Fire to a whole new level. “Memorial Roots” is full of brilliant songs, such as the taunting opener “Forsake What I Believed”, the speedy rocker “Shiver”, epic stomping Metal hymns like “The Conjunction Of 7 Planets” or the biting neckbreaker “Cross The Line”. The band is always a warrant for first class quality, and they prove it over and over again. “Memorial Roots” is one of the most-anticipated Power Metal releases of 2009 for a reason… don't miss it!
BRAINSTORM were founded in 1989 by Torsten Ihlenfeld, Dieter Bernert and Milan Loncaric. After several demo releases finally in 1997 the first record deal was signed, to release their debut album “Hungry”, which was produced by the band themself. For the second album “Unholy”, BRAINSTORM secured the services of producer Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Hammerfall). Beside the increased sound quality, also the song material was much better than on their debut.
After splitting with Marcus Jürgens, a new singer was announced in Andy B. Franck, who should turn out to become one of the scene's best and most charismatic vocalists.
The success, especially of “Unholy”, was followed by many contract offers from labels. BRAINSTORM then decided to sign with Metal Blade Records. The first album of this new alliance was called “Ambiguity” and was praised by critics and fans alike. The album was produced by Dirk Schlächter (Gamma Ray) and Sascha Paeth (Heaven's Gate, Rhapsody). Undoubtedly this band would make massive waves in the nearer future.
Achim Köhler was the chose one to produce BRAINSTORM's next album “Metus Mortis” (2001), which secured the international breakthrough for this exceptional band. The band played tours with Grave Digger and Saxon, as well as the most important festivals of Europe.
”Soul Temptation” was the next BRAINSTORM album, again highly praised by the Metal scene. In support of the release, BRAINSTORM went on tour with Edguy.
2004 became a very important year fore the band: the album “Liquid Monster” was released and proved their extraordinary class. “Liquid Monster” is considered to be one of the best Power Metal releases of the decade and became BRAINSTORM's second chart album (after the previous “Soul Temptation”). Their following first headlining tour through Europe was an overwhelming success, seeing the band touring constantly for over a year and a half, including all the important festivals and such. In 2007 the DVD “Honey From the B's” saw the light of day. It included several live concerts. Just a few months later BRAINSTORM again celebrated another great success by topping the Hungarian single charts with their “Fire Walk With Me” single, that preceeded their “Downburst” album, which was released in January 2007 - and again hit the charts in many European countries. A headlining tour followed.
But there is no slowing down for BRAINSTORM: with their brand new masterpiece “Memorial Roots” the band will embark on a co-headlining tour with Primal Fear 2009. And be sure: they still have a lot more to come.
