Born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens (NY), Numekz descended from a Mexican immigrant family who struggled in embracing a new culture. The transition from Mexico to New York was not only difficult for Numekz’s family, but for him as well. He dealt with racism, lived off of a low minimum wage salary, and witnessed his family undergo immigration matters. All the negative experiences Numekz went through made him a defiant individual who stands up for his people.

While growing up, Numekz listened to all types of music, but it was through hip-hop that he found a way to channel his rebelliousness and at the same time express himself. He was able to relate to the hip-hop music from the late 90s. The biggest rappers he was influenced by were Nas, Jay-Z, Tupac, and Notorious BIG. However, Numekz was able to incorporate his race and personality to create his own style of hip-hop.

Numkez’s rhymes come from the heart and hence depict his emotions. His songs go from hard core raps of the struggle to the wild lifestyle of his night life. Numekz’s individuality brings diversity to the hip-hop movement. He is an emerging Latino artist and one of the many prospects of the music industry.
