Nucleus Roots are back in the studio with UK Roots Legend, Ossie Gad, to produce the much anticipated 'Ossie Gad meets Nucleus Roots' album. Ossie was the vocalist on the classic Natrual-Ites 'Picture on the Wall' track, which was a fixture of all Roots nights across the country for decades.
The band will play an extensive tour of Spain during April to promote the album and singles, remixes and exclusives will be available online in advance of the 'physical' release.
Nucleus Roots rocked crowds with preview tracks from this eagerly awaited album at festival shows across the UK and Europe throughout 2011. They performed these shows as a full live band. Nucleus Roots Producer and Musical Director P.Lush, resumed duties on the Bass, his brother Gary Morris joined him on guitar, Peter Technical on the bubbling keyboards and Delroy Walker; drummer for Suns of Arqua, Finlaye Quaye and MC Busby, on the classic Nucleus rhythms. This line up provides backing for their regular vocalists; Moses, Simon Dan along with Ossie Gad. For the 'Dub Heads', Lush also plays the set in a sound system format; heavyweight Nucleus Roots tracks, mixed live and accompanied by an MC.
The band's previous releases, 'Nucleus Roots' 2000, 'Nucleus Roots in Dub', 2001, 'Universal Love' 2002 and 'At the Heart of the Matter' 2004 were very well received and made them a regular feature on all respected sound systems as well as achieving Independent chart positions in France and Belgium. Their last full length release 'Heart of Dub', 2006 was 'dubwise' follow up to the critically acclaimed 'Heart Of The Matter' which featured many renowned and respected UK Roots vocalists including; Country Culture, Sammy Clarke, Ossie Gad, Simon Dan and Moses. All of whom have at some time graced the stage with the band. It was accompanied by a storming 10 inch, released by popular demand, featuring Simon Dan singing 'Jah Rule' and 'Let there be light' by Moses.
Nucleus Roots formed in 1995 from the ashes of legendary Manchester punky/reggae outfit Community Charge. With a few line up shuffles along the way the band have now developed a cohesive, creative unit. Recent years have seen extended periods touring the continent and building an enthusiastic following with many sell out shows in France, Holland, Belgium and Norway, along with stunning UK festival performances. On the road again recently, this time for a mini-tour of Hungary, they were the first dub sound system to have play in many of the countries venues.
Recent summers have seen Nucleus raising a storm at clubs and festivals across the Continent, highlights involved supporting Lee Perry in Bergen, Norway, the prestigious Ostroda Reggae festival, Poland and the huge Dour festival in Belgium. In 2008 they played as the backing band for Grammy award winning artist Michael Rose (Black Uhuru) for sell out shows in France.
Nucleus Roots have a massive stage presence and produce a contagiously danceable, uplifting roots sound. This live line up sees another chapter in the band's colourful history. The vibe harks back to the 80's 'digitalised'' sound which P. Lush loves so much as well as looking forward to a positive musical future. Feelings run high when Nucleus take the stage so be prepared for a live performance that will take you through the full gamut of emotions.
