La banda de metal progresivo Non Essential nace en 2003 como iniciativa de Andrés Castrillo a la batería y Marc Machí en la guitarra. Una primera formación con Mario Vega al bajo e Iván Martínez a la voz comienza a moverse por Valencia y alrededores practicando un metal fresco y sin etiquetas, hasta la entrada de Pepe Hernández como guitarra solista ya en 2005. Esto junto con la entrada de Jordi Fons como cantante tras la salida de Iván pocos meses después, renueva y redefine la dirección del grupo hacia tintes más progresivos y melódicos, sin dejar de lado la originalidad y la agresividad.
Ya en 2006 se publica una primera demo oficial grabada en los estudios RPM de Valencia y se hacen una serie de conciertos que establecen a Non Essential como una de las bandas punteras del panorama.
Sin embargo, y tras un período de inactividad, las diferencias musicales hacen mella en el seno del grupo, abandonando Mario el mismo a finales de 2007. J.M. Martín se incorpora como bajista, pero tanto él como Jordi también deciden dejarlo poco tiempo después.
Así pues Non Essential sigue componiendo como trío instrumental hasta que a mediados de 2009 se empieza a completar otra vez la formación con la entrada de Roberto Calpe al bajo. Dada la buena conexión que surge y la libertad con la que el grupo se mueve componiendo instrumentalmente se decide dejar de lado la búsqueda de cantante y se empiezan a dar conciertos instrumentales con resultados positivos. A mediados de 2010 la banda graba en los estudios ARS de Valencia un nuevo EP de dos temas que refleja la actualidad del grupo, y espera afianzarse con una serie de bolos hasta finales de año.

Progressive metal band Non Essential was born in Valencia, in 2003 as an initiative of Andres Castrillo on drums and Marc Machi on guitar. A first line up with Mario Vega on bass and Ivan Martinez on voice, starts moving by Valencia and surroundings practicing a cool metal without labels until the incorporation of Pepe Hernandez guitar in 2005. This together with the entry of Jordi Fons as a singer after the departure of Ivan, renew and redefine the direction of the group towards more progressive and melodic dyes, without neglecting the originality and aggressiveness.
In 2006 published the first official demo, recorded at RPM studios in Valencia and made a series of concerts that set Non Essential as one of the leading bands of the scene. However, after a period of inactivity, a dent of musical differences within the group result on leaving Mario the same at the end of 2007. J.M. Martin joined as bassist, but he and Jordi also decide to leave shortly thereafter.
Non Essential thus continues to compose as instrumental trio until mid-2009, with the arrival of Roberto Calpe on bass. The good connection that comes and the freedom with which the group moves composing instrumental, makes them decide to set aside the search for singer and begin instrumental concerts with very positive results. In mid-2010 the band recorded in the studios ARS Valencia a new mini EP of two songs that reflect the present of the group, securing the line up with a series of gigs until the end of the year.
