After dropping out of Central Saint Martin’s (twice), Niyi released his debut single ‘Ur Mummy/808 Klap’. Despite being released on a bank holiday, it sold out within the week, and a European tour followed.

He graced the front cover of SuperSuper Magazine, and following a shoot with JCDC an 11 metre high image of Niyi hung alongside one of M.I.A and Jammer outside the Paris’ Musée de la Mode for a year, which could be seen from the top of the Eiffel Tower no less.

Niyi has played half hour guest slots on Radio 1 and XFM, and has also been interviewed on Steve Lamacq’s show and featured in a short BBC2 documentary.

Since his last single ‘Poached Eggs’/’I Love You All’, Niyi ran his weekly club night ‘I Heart Niyi’ at Punk in Soho for a year (Lady Ga Ga performed live for the first time in the UK last year as part of London Fashion Week and Calvin Harris, Little Boots and Golden Silvers have all DJed).

The same year saw Niyi on the decks at the likes of Glastonbury, Reading, Offset, Field Day and opening the annual fashion fair Bread and Butter in Berlin.

Niyi was also more recently a contributor on ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’as a regular contributor, this is despite him apparently “not owning a television for more than eight years.”
