Nicki Bluhm has taken everyone, including herself, by surprise. Her story began at a New Years Eve party when she sang an impromptu blues song that caught the attention of musician/producer Tim Bluhm (The Mother Hips/Rhythm Devils). With Tim's encouragement Nicki began to write songs and perform in public and soon was earning fans of her own. They went on to record Nicki's debut album, "Toby's Song" (2008), which appeared in Jambase's top ten albums of the year. Nicki and Tim were married shortly after and formed her band with childhood friend, Deren Ney. The band continued to grow with the addition of bassist Steve Adams (ALO) and drummer Mike Curry. Nicki has since shared the stage with Josh Ritter, Jackie Greene, Phil Lesh, Pegi and Neil Young, Butch Walker, and Leon Russell. Her performances are always well received and she never fails to sell at least a dozen CDs to her freshly-converted fans.

Her forthcoming sophomore album "Driftwood" shows an impressive progression of Nicki's natural talent. The songs range from the AM magic of Linda Ronstadt to the charming duets of Johnny Cash and June Carter and hints of stoney Memphis soul. Bluhm's ability to look beyond current trends has put her in a class of her own and her sensational performances on the festival circuit have confirmed this. Her warm, strong voice and striking appearance have broad and undeniable appeal.

Joined by talented musicians such as Jackie Greene, Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), Dave Ralicke (Dengue Fever), and members of ALO, and The Mother Hips; Nicki, Tim and producer/engineer Dave Simon-Baker recorded the eleven tracks at their San Francisco studio, Mission Bells. Honest, imaginative and captivating, this record is one that will surely elevate Nicki's status and stand the test of time.
