Now who doesn’t love a good happy ever after or fairytale? Well if you’re a Cinderella fan and/or a sneaker head Disney+ has a musical for you! ‘Sneakerella’ follows El, a hypebeast lover boy from Queens, who happens to fall for NYC’s biggest sneaker mogul (John Salley)’s daughter.
El, played by actor Chosen Jacobs, gives every minority dreamer a chance to see what happens when you never give up on yourself.
“It was every shade of black you could possibly think inside this movie. From the darkest of dark skin to the lightest of light skin but still Blackety black,” said four time NBA champion John Salley said. “I think it was important to show it doesn’t matter where you come from your dreams will take you wherever you want to be.”
Fun fact, the sneakers being released in the movie were actually worn by Salley in 1985! Salley, who also works as an activist, teased a possible new sneaker drop of his own with a special twist.
“Now I’m vegan. I’m crazy about shoes that don’t have animal products on them and don’t have animal products in them. Im waiting on this negotiation with this company out in Portugal to hopefully get involved with these kicks.”
One things for sure is Nike/ Air Jordans are definitely a cast favorite! ‘Sneakerella premieres on Disney+ Friday, May 13th!
