Toronto's Maylee Todd is the latest artist to perform a selection of tracks for Bob Boilen's famed NPR Tiny Desk (Home) concert series. Todd's Tiny Desk debut is also the landmark first-ever concert in the series to feature a digital avatar.

Having learned how to 3D model during the pandemic, the musician introduces us to her avatar — who shares a name with her fourth album and first for Stones Throw Records, Maloo. She and Maloo, from whose perspective the sci-fi lullabies about mental health are sung, are accompanied by Kyvita (Kyle Tan) on bass and keys.

Some of Todd's whimsical electronic tones come from her Tenori-on, an instrument constituted by a panel of lights that creates patterns of sound from her touch. Likewise, we get to travel visually to the programmable "planet" Maloo inhabits, illustrated through a window projection.
