PRS is turning an eye toward their acoustic guitars with an all-new PRS-Voiced Fishman Sonitone Pickup. The pickup is available in all PRS SE Series acoustic guitars and was designed in tandem with Larry Fishman and his engineering team.
“The EQ in this pickup system sounds like you mic’d the guitar,” said Paul Reed Smith. “It’s very musical. Everyone here is pleased with the sound.”
PRS further points out that the pickups were specifically designed to work with their hybrid X/Classical bracing, which allows sound to “freely vibrate, and the instrument’s voice to project boldly and clearly.” This definitely feels like a situation where you’re going to have to go and try it out yourself, but hey – an improved acoustic-electric from PRS is never a bad thing.
