The 69th Holland Festival will take place 4-26 June 2016.
Highlights include the premiere of Louis Andriessen's opera Theatre of the World; the Dutch premiere of Harrison Birtwistle's double bill The Corridor and The Cure; and a concert by members of the Syrian National Orchestra for Arabic Music.
Olga Neuwirth and the Kronos Quartet are artists-in-residence. Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Nader Ensemble, Pascal Gallois and Marino Formenti will perform works by Neuwirth, and the Kronos Quartet will perform new works by Yotam Haber, Merlijn Twaalfhoven, Tanya Tagaq and Yannis Kyriakides.
The festival also encompasses the inaugural Holland Festival Proms. The programme includes the premiere of Merlijn Twaalfhoven's work for more than 100 bassoonists, a performance of Terry Riley's In C Mali by Africa Express, and Poul Ruders' Solar Trilogy (performed by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra).
