I’m sure you’re still reeling from the deluge of mid-year “best of” album lists published as we begin the second half of the year. I must admit that I’ve found my collection of favorite songs to be a bit more obscure. Enter, the best of SoundCloud best of list.
Far from the big advertising budgets of Mumford and Sons, bands like Alessi’s Ark make brilliant music just waiting to be heard by the masses. Honestly, I find most of my new bands by listening to songs that cross my path on SoundCloud. It doesn’t matter if you recorded it in your bedroom and you don’t have an album out yet. If it’s good, I’ll fall in love at the drop of a hat.
It seems that every year, we discuss how much bigger SoundCloud has gotten. There is no better way to find new music, well ahead of the curve. To that end, here is my list of the best songs of 2013, knowing full well these will probably end up on the mainstream “Best Albums” list of many by years end.
