Get ready to head bop, air guitar, table drum, and jam your way to the weekend. Kicking off the series is a playlist from our very own North America Label Relations Director, Katie Schlosser. Get to know some fun trivia about Katie, and listen to her favorite picks below! Where are you from and how did you end up at Spotify? I grew up in small town Connecticut where I spent weekends creating music videos with friends for such classics as Sir Mix A Lot Baby Got Back and Salt N Peppa Whatta Man (thankfully none have surfaced on YouTube yet). I refined my musical skills at Berklee College of Music. Just prior to joining Spotify, I was working at Universal Music Group as an Account Executive for emerging digital companies; mainly streaming services like MySpace, MOG, and Slacker. A few colleagues helped connect me to Spotify and it was a match made in heaven! What do you do at Spotify? My official title is Director of Label Relations, North America - but in a nutshell, I oversee a team that works with labels and managers to create marketing opportunities for artists within Spotify. What about Spotify do you love most? I truly have the pleasure of working with some of the best and the brightest in the industry. My co-workers inspire me to push boundaries and give everything 200%. What is your most memorable concert? Tough question. So many good shows! Most recently I caught Bastille at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. They’re a 4-piece band from South London who are already rockstars in Europe but just making a name for themselves here overseas. The guys are killer live - never disappoint! Which album would you say defined your adolescence and why? Grunge and Alternative Rock pretty much defined my adolescence. I’d sit in my bedroom listening to WMRQ 104.1 FM based out of Hartford, CT with my finger on the record button of my boombox just waiting to capture a favorite track for my mixtapes. The Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream was the first CD I purchased. I already had the album on tape but was so pumped to tote around my first (bright green) discman and bang my head to Cherub Rock. What’s your go-to Karaoke song U2 (Pride!) - In The Name of Love Check out Katie’s “What I am Listening to Playlist” here and be sure to Follow her on Spotify!
