Beabadoobee Shares Glittering Acoustic Single, ‘Lovesong’

Published: May 26, 2022

Ahead of the release of her sophomore studio album Beatopia, singer/songwriter Beabadoobee has shared the delicate, heart-wrenching acoustic “Lovesong.” The song feels like a blissful hug, but Beabadoobee’s lyrics are more ambivalent: “I guess that this is just another love song about you.”

“‘Lovesong’ is a song that I had bits written for since my second ever EP,” Beabadoobee says in a statement. “The chorus was actually already written since Loveworm, I just didn’t have any chords to sing it with. It’s actually written in a really strange tuning that I forget. And, yeah, it’s just another sweet love song. It was one of the last songs I recorded for Beatopia.”

Formally known as Beatrice Laus, the Filipino-British artist will release Beatopia on July 15 via Dirty Hit. The project was introduced by the tracks “See You Soon” and “Talk” and is the follow-up to Beabadoobee 2020 debut, Fake It Flowers.

According to a release, Beatopia “opens up a fantastical and deeply personal world which was formed in the imagination of a 7-year-old beabadoobee and traverses fuzzy rock, classic singer-songwriter, psychedelia, Midwest emo, and outright pop.”

Beabadoobee is currently on the road supporting Halsey’s Love and Power North American arena tour. She’s slated to open for Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers in July at a few Northeast shows and will also be on the bill for such festivals as Governor’s Ball, Newport Folk, Hangout, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds.

Here is the track list for Beatopia:

‘Beatopia Cultsong”

“the perfect pair”
“broken cd”
“Talk”
