Just in case you were still capable of rational thought, Amammoth‘s new album Distant Skies and the Ocean Flies contains all the mind-numbing doom necessary to erase those pesky brainwaves for good. This is heaviness through simplicity, each track constructed from a few riffs crafted to find the perfect balance between catchiness and thought-stilling groove. With a few key knuckle-dragging riffs at its disposal, “Satellite” lumbers into the stars, drum fills dashing around its colossal footfalls all the while. It’s the one-word chorus that really drives this one home, dislodging any thoughts still bouncing around in the cranium.
