If you’re searching for classic death metal with a side of melody — and we know you are — look no further than “Magmatic Decimation,” the new track from Ekstasis.
The song is from the band’s debut album, Paralyzing Impermanence, a record that is full of influence from almost everywhere—punk, black metal, melo-death, the works, and the result is an old-school, Swedish-style death metal offering that is both familiar in tone but fresh in delivery. The album is out via Unspeakable Axe Records, a sub-imprint of Dark Descent, via cassette on October 28. Vinyl will follow on upstart metal label World Eater Records, a spin-off of esteemed French hardcore punk label Destructure Records.
“’Magmatic Decimation’ explores a hypothetical and rather fantastic scenario where the magma beneath the earth’s crust surfaces suddenly and completely, incinerating absolutely everything,” the band says. “Now hollow, the forces of gravity cause the fiery planet to collapse in on itself. ‘Inside out is sweet release from endless futility.'”
Well then, as if we didn’t already have enough to worry about. It’s OK though; these riffs will keep us going!
