Full Album Stream: Splintered Throne does Good with The Greater Good of Man

It’s been a winding road for Portland trad-metallers Splintered Throne since their inception in the early ‘10s. Following two albums and all the usual things bands do after releasing records, but not making a living off their art, founding member and vocalist Brian Garrison packed up his mic and mic stand and bid his pals adieu. His replacement ended up changing not just the face, but the tone and timbre of the band. In Lisa Mann, Splintered Throne found itself fronted by a two-time Blues Music Award winner and European Blues Award nominee with experience as a metal howler via her White Crone solo project. This is the roundabout way of saying Splintered Throne found themselves an experienced and practiced howler to blast off the second phase of the band. Then came the pandemic which, as you may have heard, put plans and scheduling everywhere on pause, if not fucked everything completely. Falling victim to that lube-less rogering was Splintered Throne’s third album, The Greater Good of Man. But with the time afforded them, they worked and tinkered on the album creating a more satisfactory result.

Fans of bands that bridge the worlds of thrash, prog and power metal and good ol’ fashioned headbanging with a beer in one hand and your equally shit-hammered buddy in your other (as well as the likes of Armored Saint, Omen, Metal Church, Bitch and Primal Fear) should find something to latch on to given the band’s penchant for high speed rockers, mid-paced pounders and lighters-aloft ballads. Why not see which itch of yours they scratch and give their new one a whirl via the full stream we’re running below? When asked about the new platter, the new frontwoman replied, “This album is Splintered Throne’s first as a female-fronted band, and I am so proud to now be fronting this group of bad-ass musicians. We put our heart and souls into making this record — I’m beyond stoked for this release!”
