Somewhere in the past couple of years the whole concept of the scene has been completely lost. Somehow, something that once stood for community and family has become synonymous with being trendy and elitist. The whole DIY, self-sustained aspect that was always a source of pride has been replaced with something that scarily resembles the mainstream in it for the money ethic, where self-promotion and pocket swelling has become more important than the friendships and artistry that have traditionally been the core of the scene that we all love so much. Dont misinterpret this as a militant rant about keeping the scene to ourselves or an attempt to put down the idea of making money. After all, isnt this suppose to be about having a good time and helping each other live the life we want to live? Instead see this as an attempt at evolution, or de-evolution depending on how you look at it. A way to combine the growth and popularity that our lifestyle has recently enjoyed with that old community feeling that drew us all here in the first place.



The goal of this evolution is what Nevermore is all about. Keeping it us against them without limiting who this us encompasses or adhering to a strict regiment of what is acceptably scene or not. If you love it go for it, were all here to back you up in anyway possible. The bands we sponsor,

eventually the athletes we sponsor, every person who rocks any piece of Nevermore, or watches one of our videos or listens to one of our comps are all part of our family and were behind them 100% in anything they do. Long Island has become a sort of cultural center for the modern trends out there. Therefore, we at Nevermore believe it is fitting that a shift in the direction that the scene is going should start here in the 516. A retreat into our roots is much needed so that we can forge ahead on a better route. One we pave ourselves, as a community, and that we can all be proud of. In the end, Nevermore is just two life long friends who love music, love surfing, love skating and cant picture taking their lives in a direction that isnt tied into these things. Everybodys got something they dont want to give up on, something they love and want to see succeed. This is ours and weve made it our mission to see this through to the end and help as many of our friends out as we can along the way.
