Runner up in The People's Music Awards 2009, East London chanteuse and songwriter Neech fills in the gap between PJ Harvey and Jill Scott. Blending old school soul, indie and electronica Neech lets inspiration blow from all directions. Tracks range from the sultry acoustic 'summer stories' and the bouncy dub tinged 'MerryGoRound', to the fuzzed-up warped forces that drive 'Thinking 'bout You'. 'Who is the what?' spotlights Neech in a smoky jazz den on Mars.
Growing up with the sounds of reggae, hi-life and soul divas at home and heavily influenced by the indie scene of her peers and a personal love for hip hop, Neech combined all this to create her own style.
Performing either with the full live Neech band, acoustically with her guitarist, Oli, or with a DJ, and occasionally joined by MC Profit, the ensuing sound invites you into darker territories and tells of intimate secrets with a warmth and originality thats impossible to ignore. Neech has showcased her music in places as varied as dingy London bars, the hillsides of the Big Chill festival to African festivals on the shores of Lake Malawi, and all in between.
2007 saw the release of Neech's first full studio album, "Thinkin' Bout You" (available at bandcamp - www.neechmusic.bandcamp.com - or on Itunes and all the usual download sites), and performing guest vocals for other artists. Details and releases to follow.
