Born and raised in Mozambique (capital Maputo).
The story of Neco's musical success is one best told as a family portrait. Neco was raised in a house filled with music, both his parents were active musicians. Together with his two brothers and two sisters, Neco became familiar with classical-Western, jazz and pop music via church and radio, and traditional African music within the family in traditional ceremonies.
The Novellas children played together regularly, calling their blend of influences "Novellas Music for the World." Guitar in hand and siblings backing him up, Neco rose to prominence in Mozambique as a recording and performing artist.
Having already accomplished what many people could only imagine, Neco sought a formal music education. With grant help, Neco attended the Academia de Musica Eborense and Universidade de Musica de Evora in Portugal to study classical guitar and vocal technique.
Neco travelled across African and Europe performing.
On a visit to Holland, Neco fell in love with the Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory of Music, where he continued with his studies in Classic music but also Jazz and world music.
The five Novellas brothers and sisters reunited in South Africa in April 2004 for the recording of Neco's debut disc, Mita Famba produced by Attie Bauw-Amsterdam, released in Spring 2006 and distributed by Pink Records, NL.
With collaboration of the brothers and sisters Novela's, Neco recorded a Cd which he describes as a source of their music, with colour full vocals and unique harmony of the Novela's sisters Cidalia and Isabel as well the deep expressive articulation of the guitars and the bass lines of the brothers Nelson and Isildo Novela's.
Neco sings about the Understanding and awareness as well as love ad truth between Humans.
The second original production, New Dawn - Ku Khata produced by the Novellas brothers, was recorded and released in the Netherlands by World Connection-Amsterdam. It is a Cd of transition in Neco Novellas music.
Neco composes and sings about imaginations, as well as about a new dawn, which he uses as a symbol of a new beginning and new life opportunities.
The new Album 'Munthu-Somebody' of 12 tracks has been released in Amsterdam in September 2011.
Neco describes this album as World Jazz.

In this Cd Neco presents him self with his knowledge curiosity and challenge on experimenting new sounds and composition techniques. Almost "unplugged " when relating to the previews Albums of Neco Novellas.

The album "Munthu" results and stands strong thanks to the extended number of great guest musicians such as:
Drummer Lucas van Merwijk, trumpets Rob van de Wouw, pianist Rembrandt Frerisch, percussionist Bulu Viloria, as well as the brothers Nello and Isildo Novela's.
Neco Novellas has just produced and recorded Album of great musical diversity.
