~ Stop your feet from kicking, let the bottom feeders weep, float to shore with the rest of us discarded debris ~

The prairies may be flat, but the lives on the prairies are full of hidden caves, impossibly high mountains and murky oceans. The Winnipeg songwriters Keri Latimer and Shelley Marshall who front the band Nathan try to write from the beautifully eccentric lives of the people surrounding them, and whom they imagine themselves among. These people span centuries and don’t listen to commercial radio.

At the moment ~ Nathan is currently touring and promoting their latest album “Jimson Weed.” It is their second album as a band and first with Nettwerk Records. It was released in the fall of 2004 in Canada and the U.S. No hype, nobody crying to catch a glimpse of them at airports, but out of nowhere it began a sturdy climb up campus and public radio charts all across North America and a loyal following began to grow. In 2005 the album received a Juno Award Nomination.

The band is comprised of singer/writer/guitarist/thereminist Keri Latimer (formerly McTighe, she got hitched), singer/writer/accordionist/banjo-ist Shelley Marshall (formerly Bilewitch, she got hitched first), Bassist Devin Latimer, drummer Damon Mitchell, and a rotating cast of tubas, pedal steels and trumpets.

Days Gone By ~ Nathan’s debut album “Stranger” was released in 2001. It led to a Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Independent Album, the prairie region choice for CBC Radio’s Big Break national talent competition, and band leader Keri received first place in Manitoba for the National Songwriting Competition. Other highlights include the release of a music video for “Sunset Chaser” which is on steady rotation on CMT, performing live on national television as part of the Canada Day celebration on Parliament Hill and then again as part of the tribute to Winnipeg musicians during the Juno Awards.

Yet To Come ~ With the help of the Paquin and Mongrel Agencies, Nathan will be touring and playing music festivals and venues all over North America this summer and fall. They return home to capture another batch of songs onto a new album.

The winter is the best time to record.

On April 30/07, we had our song Scarecrow in a most excellent TV show, Heroes - here's a home-made tour vid for that song.
