English Bio



Nathalie is of Italian-Belgian extraction and was born in Rome in

1979. She started songwriting on guitar at age 15 and continued

intensively on piano thereafter; training vocally was the natural

choice she made at age 14, followed by piano studies which allowed

further outlets for her expression. Being born in a bilingual

household and having interests in foreign languages herself, Nathalie

writes her lyrics in Italian, English and French.



She took her first steps by singing cover songs in small live

performances, timidly beginning to share her compositions with an

audience; in 2002 she finally decided to form a band for her solo

project and then proceeded to perform in various Roman venues and

clubs (Il locale, Circolo degli Artisti, Brancaleone, Beba Do Samba,

Lettere Caffé, Sonica, Horus Club, Locanda Atlantide, Alpheus,

Tumbler, The Place, Linux Club).



In 2003 she opened for Marco Parente and La Crus, followed by a

supporting act for Andrea Mirò (with Barbara Eramo of 'Eramo &

Passavanti' and Diana Tejera of 'Plastico') and a concert in the town

of Canterano supporting Max Gazzé, in 2004.



INFLUENCES



A wide array of artists influenced her music: Tori Amos, P.J. Harvey,

Janis Joplin, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Fiona Apple, Kate Bush, Patti

Smith, Ani Di Franco, Portishead, Cristina Donà, Fabrizio De André,

Francesco De Gregori, chansonniers like Serge Reggiani, etc.



MUSIC CONTESTS



She participated in several Italian music contests such as "Spazio

Aperto" in 1998 (3rd place); "Festival Fuoritempo" in 2000 (1st place

in the Under 21 category) and 2002 (Best Unreleased Song); "Biella

Festival" in 2005 (2nd place). In February 2006 she won the "Premio

SIAE per DEMO" at Rome's venue The Place in February and in the same

year she won MArtelive competition's music section. In addition, she

reached 2nd place in the "Sapienza in Music" contest, organized by La

Sapienza University of Rome in July 2006.

In september 2009 she won the prize "DEMO Lady's Award" in Comiso (Sicily), contest organized by the radio broadcast "DEMO", Radio 1 RAI.



RADIO, TV, COMPILATIONS



Her music was played by Italian networks like RadioUno RAI, Radio

Città Futura, Radio Meridiano 12 and Radio Città Aperta; RadioUno RAI

also produced a Nathalie's live recording at Saxa Rubra RAI Studios in

summer 2005; in 2005 and 2006 she participated in broadcasts as a poet

and as a singer-songwriter (RAISAT2000, RAI FuturaTV, RAITRE); a few

of her songs are included in compilations ("Fuoriscena" and "Biella

Festival").



OTHER MUSICAL EXPERIENCES



She sang in many cover bands (an example is SkunKover, Skunk Anansie

tribute band) and in a nu-metal side project (English lyrics) called

Damage Done. Being the band's lead singer and co-writer, she opened

for Vision Divine and Beholder at Rome's Blackout venue, and was a

runner-up in the Rock Tv Contest at the Tim-Tour 2004. She is

currently involved in the band's demo cd 'Thorn'.



In 2003, she played at the revue Commutazioni_003, taken place at

the Giardino della Villa Comunale di Roseto degli Abruzzi near Teramo.



Aside from working on her personal ongoing projects, Nathalie often

collaborates with other composers and musicians in studio vocal

recordings and in songwriting; she also acted in two musical theatre

plays in Rome, one of which was a rendition of "Les Misérables".

Bio



Nathalie nasce nel 1979 a Roma da famiglia italo-belga;

inizia a scrivere le sue prime canzoni all'età di 15 anni, prima alla chitarra, in seguito

al pianoforte, strumento che studia per 2 anni; a 14 anni inizia a studiare canto.



La sua musica si ispira in gran parte ad artisti anglosassoni, come Tori Amos, P.J. Harvey, Fiona Apple, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, ma anche ad italiani come De André, De Gregori e

agli chansonniers francofoni, come Serge Reggiani.



Nathalie scrive i testi delle proprie canzoni in italiano, francese e inglese.



Nel 1998 partecipa al concorso Spazio Aperto superando le selezioni e classificandosi al 3° posto in finale;



nel 2000 vince nella categoria Under 21 al Festival Fuoritempo, in cui nel

2002 vincerà il Premio per Miglior Canzone Inedita;



dopo aver collaborato con numerose Cover Band, tra cui SkunKover (tribute band Skunk Anansie), nel 2002 forma un gruppo per portare il proprio progetto musicale sui palchi

di vari locali romani, tra cui Il Locale, Circolo degli Artisti, Brancaleone, Beba Do Samba,

Lettere Caffè, Sonica, Horus Club, Locanda Atlantide, Alpheus;



nel corso del 2003 apre i concerti romani di Marco Parente (Brancaleone) e

La Crus (Circolo degli Artisti);



nel settembre dello stesso anno suona nel Giardino della Villa Comunale di Roseto

degli Abruzzi (TE), allinterno della rassegna Commutazioni_003 ;



nel marzo 2004 apre allAlpheus un concerto di Andrea Mirò insieme a Barbara Eramo (Eramo e Passavanti) e Diana Tejera (Plastico) ;



ha aperto il concerto di Max Gazzè di Canterano l'8 agosto 2004;



le sue canzoni sono state trasmesse da Radio Città Futura, Radio Meridiano 12, Radio Città Aperta e RadioUno RAI alla trasmissione DEMO, per la quale ha suonato al concerto delle 1000 puntate (all'Alpheus di Roma) e con cui ha inoltre realizzato un Live trasmesso il 27 Agosto 2005;



nell'ottobre 2005 ha partecipato al Biella Festival classificandosi al 2° posto;



nello stesso mese ha partecipato ad alcune trasmissioni di RAI FuturaTV e RAISAT2000;



nel febbraio 2006 le è stato assegnato il "Premio SIAE per DEMO" 2006 al The Place

di Roma;

nel giugno dello stesso anno ha vinto nella sezione Musica di MArtelive;

nel mese di luglio si è classificata al 2° posto del concorso "Sapienza In Musica" organizzato dall'Università "La Sapienza" di Roma.

nel settembre 2009 ha vinto il premio "DEMO Lady's Award" a Comiso (Ragusa), concorso organizzato dal programma radiofonico "DEMO" di Michael Pergolani e Renato Marengo, in onda su Radio 1 RAI.



oltre ad occuparsi del proprio progetto musicale, Nathalie è stata cantante e coautrice nel progetto

Damage Done, band nu-metal con testi in inglese, con cui ha all'attivo il demo cd Thorns;

con il medesimo gruppo ha aperto nel maggio 2004 il concerto di Vision Divine e Beholder

al Blackout di Roma; la band si è classificata tra le prime tre band del Rock Tv Contest, legato al Tim-Tour 2004;



Collabora saltuariamente ad altri progetti musicali, tra cui "Piccola Banda Icona" e "I Circolabili";



N. è stata attrice-cantante nella Compagnia teatrale i Ghirigori, con cui ha già messo in scena il celebre musical Les misérables e un musical inedito.
