The biography of an

entertainer tends to be most interesting to his devoted fans and his

fellow countrymen and women. In order to give his fans a better

level of understanding and some insight into his life, we have

compiled information given by his family and close friends to

provide an in depth biography of him.

Nasrat Parsa was born in the

beautiful city of Kabul, Afghanistan on what Mrs. Sima Parsa, his

mother,

likes to describe as a calm, peaceful, and sunny day.

Similar to all other devoted mothers around the world, she

sacrificed her youth for the superb up-bringing of her children.

When Nasrat Parsa was born, his father was teaching as the head of

the department of education in Kabul, Afghanistan. Mr. Hafizullah

Parsa, his father, dedicated most, if not all, of his life to teach

his students as well as his children. Nasrat Parsa dearly loved his

parents and appreciated all their hard work and efforts through out

his life. Nasrat Parsa once said, "Worship is the word that comes

into my mind when I think of Sima Parsa and the late Hafizullah

Parsa (bless his soul), my loving parents."

The art of poetry,

literature, sculpturing, painting, and music played a big part in

shaping Mr. Hafizullah Parsa's families life, which in turn affected

Nasrat himself dramatically. Nasrat Parsa's uncle, Amanullah Parsa

who now resides in Columbus, Ohio with his family, taught art at the

University of Rome and Milan. Najeeb Parsa, Nasrat Parsa&8217;s older

brother, taught at the University of Kabul, where he headed the

Performing Arts in the Science department. Art, literature, and

music were very common in Nasrat Parsa&8217;s family, which had an

unimaginable effect upon Nasrat Jan.

Nasrat Parsa's brother,

Najeeb Parsa, was the first person to have such a tremendous impact

on his life involving music. Najeeb Parsa had given Nasrat Parsa a

tremendous amount of guidance in the incredible journey of music.

Nasrat Parsa regarding his brother once said, "I have never felt

alone, even if we were oceans apart." Through out his childhood, he

listened to his brother Najeeb Jan reciting poetry while playing the

harmonium. Nasrat Jan then began to mimic his brother and thus began

his close to ties to music. Nasrat Parsa then participated in plays

and musicals alongside his brother, Najeeb Parsa.

Soon after, during a New

Years celebration at Radio Kabul Studios, Nasrat Parsa sang two

songs

belonging to the most honorable and greatest artist, Ahmad Zahir. After that performance, he received positive encouragement

and likeness from the people of Afghanistan.

The following morning, the

celebration was broadcasted over the radio and Ahmad Zahir heard his

songs being sang by Nasrat Parsa. Impressed by Nasrat Jan's singing

abilities at a young age, Ahmad Zahir invited him over to his house

where they sang together and Nasrat Parsa is noted to say "it was

perhaps the greatest honor of my life." The recording of the New

Years celebration, singing with Ahmad Zahir at his home, and singing

in a radio game show would all come to his benefit in the future.

Nasrat Parsa was also given

the chance to learn from the classical teachings of Ustad Mohammed

Hossein Sarahang and his son Eltaf Hossain who were also family

friends. At the age of 12, Nasrat Parsa immigrated with his family

to Pakistan and then to India. After two years in Delhi, India,

Nasrat Parsa attended the school of music where he was taught by

Pandate Daish Pandi. In India, Nasrat Parsa also took private

lessons from Ustad Monawar Ali Khan. Nasrat Parsa's journey

continued in Germany where Ghulam Ali Khan was giving a concert. At

this concert, Nasrat Parsa was introduced to Ghulam Ali Khan where

he invited him to his home. Ghulam Ali Khan then tied a band on

Nasrat Parsa's wrist indicating an official student status.

With his amazing background

in music, he finally launched his music career in 1989. Through out

Nasrat Parsa's career, he has made many successful albums for his

beloved fans to enjoy. His first album was "Laanai-e-Eshq" which was

released almost 20 years ago in 1989. His following album was

released in 1992 called "Darga." His successful career continuted

with unforgettable albums such as, "Donya", "Gohar", "Saya", "Negah",

"Live in Germany", "Hindi Songs", "Naaz", and "Dil." Many people

believe that "Dil" was Nasrat Parsa's last album before h is tragic

death; however he still had one unreleased album. We have his

unreleased album and will post it on his myspace as well as this

site shortly.

On the morning of May 8,

2005, Nasrat Parsa passed away at the age of 36 in a tragic

incident. After a concert in Vancouver, Canada for mother's day;

Nasrat Parsa and his brothers, Najeeb Parsa and Ahsan Parsa were

approached by three men outside of their hotel. One of the three

ignorant men punched Nasrat Parsa where he fell down and hit his

head on some stairs. Due to the fall that caused internal brain

bleeding, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Najeeb Parsa said,

the men initially asked for an autograph and then punched his

brother. Police said the three men were drinking alcohol and very

intoxicated when they approached Nasrat Parsa. Najib Parsa said the

three men were angry when his brother said he wouldn't sing dance

songs because he wanted to sing some soft songs for the mothers in

the audience, after all it was mother's day. The man who is

responsible for the death of Nasrat Parsa and is currently on trial

is named Ahmad Froogh. The trial is expected to last two weeks and

both Najeeb and Ahsan Parsa will be called to the stand. We will

provide more information regarding this case as we receive it.

Nasrat Parsa&8217;s absence has

been felt through out the Afghan community. He was the definition of

talent, honor, and respect. He was loved by his family, friends,

fans and people that never even met him. On Mother&8217;s Day, he gave

the gift of a wonderful concert to all the mothers present, yet he

was taken from his own mother the same night. The mother that

sacrificed her youth for the up-bringing and happiness of her son,

no longer has her son. The mother who worked so hard through out her

life to give her son everything she possibly could, no longer has

her son. Najeeb Jan who played music countless times with his

brother, no longer has his brother to enjoy music with. He was taken

away from his mother, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts,

friends, and fans. He was taken away because of the irresponsible

act of a selfish young man. A selfish act that has caused the entire

Afghan community to suffer for it. The senseless man who committed

the act of murder did not think of how the loss of Nasrat Parsa will

affect people&8217;s lives around the world. He did not think of the

tears that would be shed. He did not think of the mother who will

shed so many tears that she would nearly be blind. He did not think

at all. Ahmad Froogh may receive life in prison; however that

doesn&8217;t bring our Nasrat Parsa back to life. Nasrat Parsa is a

irreplaceable person. His beautiful voice will forever live on. He was

an angel whose time was to go. His 36 years of life has impacted

each and every one of us. Our heart goes out to the family and

friends of the beloved Nasrat Parsa.
