Progressive rock as a genre is notorious for taking itself too seriously. The basic elements of the music are to blame; huge, dramatic sections of music with hopelessly complex arrangements, and technical facility applied like a paste usually leads to listener fatigue. Obviously the person who composed this music takes even the most mundane events in life as if they are as serious, and require deep philosophical debate.
'Narcosis' is guilty of all of the above; nothing is too extreme or outside to be considered. It is music for music's sake, and because of this it has by design alienated the listener to one degree or another. It isn't exactly what one could consider as 'easy listening'. But if the listener has the patients, and the sense of humor to hear when something is so outrageous on purpose that they crack a smile, then they will have 'got it'. 'Narcosis' is progressive metal with a sense of humor.
This is where musical limits are pushed; it is where musical creativity is tested, cultivated, and grown. Music that stands on its own as a testament to musical development, and constant evolution, but all the while self aware, and performed with a goofy smirk and laugh, hoping the listener will stop and laugh right along with us.
Founder, composer, and band leader is Robert Craft, who's diverse musical background was focused while earning a Bachelors of Music at Berklee College of Music. The band began by teaming up with Noah Cole, with his fierce drumming/keyboard playing, and endless hours spent mixing each cut led to many great instrumentals. Currently, Rob and Noah are working on finishing the first LP 'Narcosis I'
Now, armed with a new lineup and a great vocalist, Narcosis will be invading your local watering hole with our brand of prog metal.with a sense of humor.
