Victoria Spaeth

Location:
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US

Artist / Band / Musician
Genre:
Folk / Acoustic / Blues
"It's no mistake that Victoria labels her songs as "urban folk." Each of her acoustic tunes has a certain concrete-scented charm, like the life story of a stranger passing by on the street." - Lyndzapalooza

"Somewhere between Ricki Lee Jones, and Aimee Mann, with a hint of Laura Nyro, lies a young woman, mature beyond her years. Victoria Spaeth is remarkably comfortable in her own skin- captivating as a performer and a musician. She's got miles of talent and a voice you will hear a lot more as she gains wider acclaim." - John Cecil Price, Philadelphia Booking Agent

In their self-described style of Urban Folk, Victoria Spaeth and the Spaeth Cadets specialize in eclectic three-part harmonies, spunky and soul-searching lyrics, and layered instrumentation. Combining elements of Blues, Folk Rock, Jazz, Funk, and Classical Guitar, The Spaeth Cadets create a truly unique fusion that's taking the Philadelphia music scene by storm.

NOTES ON RECORDINGS:

I am very proud to say that "BREAK IT DOWN" was recorded and produced by myself and my good friend and bassist, Alison Paige (AlyCat). Aly and I contributed all instrumental tracks and some of the vocals, and Jeanne Lyons and Dena Miranda added some excellent back up vocals. Surprisingly, GarageBand really pulled through on this song, as did what turns out to be my pretty decent MacBook microphone. It's amazing what you can do on a zero budget with very little equipment! Thanks also to Stephen Burdick for mastering it!

Although I'm really digging the way it's turning out, "ELECTRIC LOVE" is a ROUGH DRAFT, with scratch vocals that will probably be re-done. It is also missing Dena Miranda and Jeanne Lyons back up vocals. It was recorded and will be produced by the brilliant John Glaubitz, who also contributed the Bass, Lead Guitar, and Drum tracks. THE FINISHED VERSION WILL BE POSTED HOPEFULLY WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK.

The recording of "BREATHE AND RELEASE" that's posted is a rough recording of one of our band practices recorded on a single track through my laptop microphone. Features Katharine Oaks on violin.

Thanks to Smashed Cat Studios for the recording and production of "THIS LIFE." We will however be re-recording this song soon, as it no longer reflects the direction that we've taken the song and the way it sounds live.
