Geneva-born Nicolas Julliard decides to become Fauve in 1999. His previous non-career moves include various participations in great unknown bands such as Grammar & Use and Illford. Multi-talented and hyperactive, Fauve explores the margins of songwriting, blending pop, minimal electro, Broadway melodies, easy-listening and bossa-nova. A natural crooner, our man knows a good tune when he hears one and therefore tries to write good ones too. French magazine "Les Inrockuptibles" awarded him a nice spot in their annual compilation CD "Ceux qu'il faut dcouvrir". That was in 2004, and Fauve was then known as Sombre, God only knows why. Since then, Fauve has collected enough material to produce his first album, released in spring 2006 by Gentlemen Records.
On July 13th 2007, Fauve played at The Montreux Jazz Festival together with fellow gentleman Raphelson, The Lausanne Sinfonietta and guests (Erik Truffaz, John Parish, Sophie Hunger). A CD+DVD of the concert was subsenquently released on Gentlemen Records ("An Evening At The Montreux Jazz Festival", nov. 2007).
In 2008, Fauve was busy creating and playing his own soundtrack to Alfred Hitchock's silent classic "The Lodger". The music he wrote was performed live in front of the movie screen in selected theatres.

In early 2005, Fauve also got together with Kid Chocolat and BellWald to create YYY, an Internet-powered label designed to host funny and weird musical experiments. (http://www.y-y-y.biz)
