Kamilah Sumner

Kamilah Sumner is what the world needs right now full of soul, full of funk, with a sexy edge. Her voice is like the taste of honey, so sweet, so relaxing, at the same time healing just like honey soothing a sore throat. This 26 year old songtress hails from the Southside of Chicago, the hometown of Minnie Riperton, Chaka Khan and Sam Cooke. In the early 1960's Chicago evolved into a soul city. A time when the whole family could listen to the same type of music regardless of age. A time when people recognized and appreciated classic music because it made you feel so good. Somehow this era got lost and forgotten about, Kamilah is one of the artists in forefront striving to bring those good times back. She was raised on classic music and it molded this songstress from a baby girl to a woman. Kamilah started singing at a very young age but kept it to herself not realizing the effect music had on the world, she only knew how it made her feel. By the age of 8 Kamilah was singing in church and school choirs not realizing the listeners were intrigued by a voice so big and sweet coming from such a small body. All through high school Kamilah participated in tons of concerts and talent shows to improve her stage presence. Kamilah attended college at Florida A&M University and received her accounting degree in 2003. Upon graduation Kamilah decided to take off to New York where she began to work with top notch producer by the name of "Needlz". This is when Kamilah developed her sound, she found her niche and seperated herself from everyone and became comfortable with being unique. Soon after she began to work with producer NO ID learning more about the history of soul music. Though she grew up around it, it was time she listened from an artist perspective and really lived in the moments of classic soul. Now Kamilah is ready to share something new but old something sweet but strong for the whole world to experience. Kamilah Sumner is coming sooner than later : )
