BIO

Coming from a family of travelers, Mr. Robert Johnson draws most of his influence from the road. He is a poet, writer, producer, and visual artist. Always seeking the divine truth in life, he dives deeply into the spiritual aspect of all things. He feels inspiration is always one step further into the great unknown; his life a perpetual motion forward. Gray clouds behind, blue skies ahead. He seeks to expand himself with each new contact and hopes to reciprocate. He believes life is given to us as a gift. One that we should cherish and use until it is gone.

Not being satisfied with just his own artistic success, Robert has worked hard on expanding the creative scene in Orlando, his home town. He is founder/co-founder and creative director of two music Fests: ella Music Fest (www.ellamusicfest.org), which celebrates the Florida Female Artist, and is in its 4th year; and Corazon Art and Music Festival (www.corazonartandmusic.com), which looks to expand the creative/experimental music scene in Orlando and combine different ideas from various producers. Both Fests mean a great deal to him and he works very hard to keep them going. He feels that their existence and success helps to show that there are people that do care for the community and do believe a grass roots culture can exist and flourish in Orlando.

Always keeping busy, Robert is currently working on recording a full length album; developing and producing a “Rock Opera-esque” show called Corazon which will combine a Narrator performing his poetry, he and a full band performing his music, and visual art being projected while the whole performance is set to various lighting; he’s compiling an anthology of his poetry from the last decade; he’s booking a coffeehouse tour of the US and Canada for the summer; and he will soon host and perform on an Acoustic Showcase called “10 @ 10” at the newly built cineplex in the Plaza in Downtown Orlando. It will feature local musicians and will be webcast internationally.

In the Midst of a Revolt

January 12th, 2010

I bleed in the new decade.

In the midst of a revolt, a hum surrounds.

The eye of the beholder.

The storm rages inside.

A direction waits for the wind to blow.

Can you hear the agony?

Do you listen to your bones?

Do you see with your own eyes?

Can you see the pain?

Is there beauty in your blink or can it be viewed by all?

The darkness with sharp teeth.

The claws outstretched,

The legs drawn in close,

The attack in heartbeat.

A predator evolved.

What does it have to say?

Do they tell you stories?

Is there a difference in vision?

Does it make sense?

What is that place you hide it in?

A moment waits with heavy breath.

An instant,

Don’t give it away.

I scream with hoarse tragedy,

a life of everyday.

A bastion for the slaughter.

Spot

the

light

in

the

east.

In its due time.

Do in its time.

You’re such a precious soul.

Insightful.

Gifted.

A life lived with life.

Can the beast be the one that takes the burden of this human weight?

Are we sure we want to give that strength away?

I do not know your God.

The name of mine is….

What view will make me see?

My eyes are my own.

What symbols do you command that I cannot understand?

For those words carry no weight, and I feel no bond.

What magic is in the numbers that call for a sacrifice?

I cannot shed out my insides.

I can only let the skin die.

I cannot change into that image.

I can only pretend.

I cannot be that privileged few.

I can only make that number grow.

Reach for the other side, from the inside.

It’s the outside that can only be seen by you.

The others can side with whom they wish.

I will spend the days passing with open eyes.

Make the world your view.

See through their eyes.

Let them look through yours.

Breathe life into this moment.

Hear that hum.

The revolt harbors such noise.

Let it flow with the freedom of the passing.

The time has a name.

I introduce you to the new Decade.
