Began playing in front of others of my species (actually there was a large variety of fauna of various species running around most of the places I played) in 1968. Played the Gaslight Cafe, Gerde's Folk City, and other mostly subterranean establishments.
Student of the late great Reverend Gary Davis 1969-1970. He called me a "sportin' gitar player". Dave Van Ronk said "that guy has a really good feeling for the blues" to my friend Roland Moussa whom he was sitting next to at the Gaslight. Spent a day with Bukka White in 1969. He asked me how come I didn't have a record out. Was scheduled to open for Skip James at the Gaslight but gig was called on the count of death (his not mine). " There are some real good guitarists here today!" said Brownie McGhee after hearing me play in a tent at the Ithica Folk Festival in 1971?. Led the bay area band" Grungie O'Muck with Rabies" in 1972 with my friend Jane McGarrigle, the eldest of the three McGarrigle sisters.
Baby sister Kate McGarrigle included a song to Mr. O'Muck entitled "Homage a Grungie" On The McGarrigle sisters second album "Dancer with Bruised Knees". Thanks Kate. Played Harmonica behind George Gerdes on public TV in LA 1971?. Opened for Freddy King, 1973. Been on a lonnnnngggg sabatical.
