Mr Irieman

Benedick Roy Usher aka Mr IRIEMAN, was born 1959 in Buff Bay, Jamaica. He grew up in the parish of Portland. Already as a baby he came in contact with music through the church work of his mother. As a boy he played the drums in the church band and made his first experience on stage in a dancing group together with his two sisters. Although he was working as a craftsman for years he never lost sight of the music.
In 1994 Mr IRIEMAN came to Germany und met some jamaican musicians like Alton Hugh Simpson, aka RAS FLABBA, who founded the label SUNVIBE RECORDS with his own recording studio in Iserlohn. Mr IRIEMAN took over the position of the manager for the live concerts and started to work as the MC on stage. In 1996 Ras Flabba and Mr Irieman went to Jamaica to bring some young up-coming jamaican artists to Germany and in 1997 they started the project SUNVIBE CREW together with the jamaican band Riddim 1000. Many concerts in Germany and Switzerland followed. Some of the artists like Singing U, Shocking Murray, Nighthawk, Jah Tiger, Wiseman und Singing Morris (today known as Antony in GB) are still known in the German reggae scene.
In 1999, after the band Riddim 1000 and some of the singers had to go back to Jamaica, Mr IRIEMAN became the managing partner of the SUNVIBE recording studio. Because he spent a lot of time now in the studio, he started to sing backing vocals for some of his friends. His talent was soon recognized and so he had a lot of fun singing his own versions of his favourite songs.
In the year 2000 he had his own first live-performances with the band NEW CULTURE. Live-concerts alongside his friends RAS FLABBA, Singing U und Shocking Murray followed. In 2003 Mr Irieman went on tour in Germany alongside Nitelife und DR. Ring Ding. Several concerts with RAS FLABBA, Supa T., Junior P., the band Umoya, Pacey, Danton Humble, Movements, Madame Christine, Jah Tiger etc. followed. In 2004 Mr Irieman and RAS FLABBA met the "Natural Mystic Band", founded by Adam Traore, a keyboarder from Ivory Coast. Since that time you can see and hear Mr Irieman, Ras Flabba and the "Natural Mystic Band" on many stages in Germany and the neighbouring countries.
