Created in the Summer of 2006, the MoVal Concert Chorale has performed numerous times for various events to showcase their talents. The MVCC was founded by AJ Rafael, for a choir concert to raise funds for the building of his church, St. Patrick's. The choir concert "No Day but Today", in October of 2006, raised over $8,000 and spread the word for the MVCC. Shortly after that, more people joined the choir and they went caroling to raise funds for more music. The third "season" of MVCC was at Canyon Springs High School for the "Play, Live, & Breathe Music" concert put together by the class of 2008's ASB President, Jharen Haynes. Another notable concert was at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside at the Multi-Cultural Night which included performances by Collective Dance Troupe and AJ Rafael.

Although some members have gone their seperate ways from the choir, they are still and will always be part of the MoVal Concert Chorale. Two of our members have gone to pursue their religious vocations in Dover, Delaware. We are praying for them as they are for us.

LOVE HEALS! a musical festival to benefit the SAVE DARFUR COALITION

Since early 2003, Sudanese armed forces and Sudanese government-backed militia known as the "Janjaweed" have been fighting two rebel groups in Darfur, the Sudanese Liberation Army/Movement (SLA/SLM) and the Justine and Equality Movement (JEM), which have since fractured into over a dozen groups. The stated political aim of the rebels has been to compel the government of Sudan to address underdevelopment and the political marginalization of the region. In response, the Sudanese government's regular armed forces and the Janjaweed have targeted civilian populations and ethnic groups from which the rebels primarily draw their support. The Sudanese government and the Janjaweed militias are responsible for the burning and destruction of hundreds of villages, the killing of hundreds of thousands of people and rape and assault of thousands of women and girls.

As many as 400,000 people have been killed; with an estimated 2.5 million innocent civilians have been forced to flee their homes and now live in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Sudan or in refugee camps in neighboring Chad; and over 3 million men, women, and children are reliant on international aid for survival.

The conflict in Darfur has been named "Today's greatest humanitarian crisis."

"Love Heals!" will feature a choir called the MoVal Concert Chorale directed by AJ Rafael. This event will help raise awareness for the current situation in Darfur. "Love Heals" will feature many musical acts, from singing to dancing. Please join us in this night of entertainment and charity.
