miscellaneous crap.

Ludichrist was formed on Long Island in 1984. This was at the cusp of two eras in NYHC history - the end of the beginning, and the beginning of something new. Like the great hardcore bands that came before them, Ludichrist was first and foremost, hard, heavy, and fast, but they were also at the vanguard of talking hardcore somewhere else. Classic rock influenced guitar licks, dueling guitar harmonics, and incredible rhythm and tempo changes were added to the mix. Skillful musicianship combined with witty, clever, satirical lyrics, and a willingness to push the envelope, helped them to stand apart from the rest.

Many recognized this, and the band began their recording career. First, they released a show recorded at CBGB on the "CBGB Off the Board" label. On their two CombatCore releases, Immaculate Deception and Powertrip, hardcore became fused with rock, metal, jazz, classical, latin, and of course rap. They were doing things that hardcore bands simply didnt do. Those who know their history know that Ludichrist wrote, played and recorded their hardcore-rap crossover "Green Eggs and Ham" long before others mixed the genres.

Today, some see Ludichrist as a classic, influential, old-school, hardcore-crossover band, while others remember them as the forefathers of their bastard child, Scatterbrain. Either way, Ludichrist made their mark and their music is still remembered, respected, and listented to today. And now they're back, but just for a minute. Its been 18 years since Ludichrist played a show, so see em while you can - you may never get another chance
