On Tuesday 22 July 2008 the last episode of the last ever series of Big Brother aired nationally on Channel Ten to

an Australian TV audience of one million people. Poignantly the last song ever played on Big Brother was

Mosaik’s “Hello Goodbye”. It was the second time the song had been predominantly featured in the final live

show. Another Mosaik number ‘Bad Decisions’ was also played at length.

A group of four acoustic rockers from Melbourne’s outer suburbs, Mosaik are signed to local independent label

Zatzit and are distributed by Shock. ‘Zenith Valley’ is the band’s debut LP and was produced by ARIA Award

winner Monique Brumby.

“Rather than dabble in superfluous sound enhancement, Mosaik rely on basic instrumentation and voice to

convey their musical message. Acoustic guitars and sympathetic percussion and strings form the background for

their heartfelt balladeering ways. On Zenith Valley, the band present 12 self-penned honest, organic tunes” Eva

Roberts, Australian Musician Magazine

Mosaik combine quality musicianship with a willingness to be open about their emotions. Passionate about music

and driven to make a real connection with their audience Mosaik were formed three years ago. Kirby Young

and Will Prescott both write songs and alternate the lead singing role in Mosaik, creating a healthy competitiveness

and an edge of contrast within their accessible sound. This edge has lead to a solid fan base for the

approachable guys who have performed with artists such as The Whitlams, Tim Rogers and Josh Pyke.

‘Zenith Valley’ was painstakingly produced throughout last Winter on a secluded Victorian farm abounding with

kangaroos, goats and sheep. Monique Brumby challenged the young band to embrace electric guitars for the

first time and has brought a richness and depth to the band’s sweet, simple and inviting early sound.

It was this sound that attracted Melbourne music industry cognoscenti James Young to sign them to his fledgling

Zatzit label and Cherry Rock management company. Young says, “The first time I heard the band play ‘Hello

Goodbye’ in front of a packed house of love struck girls in St. Kilda in 2005 I knew I just had to sign them. Fastforward

to today and I feel like a proud father having watched them blossom into a band of substance given to

storytelling, with their cheeky side still intact.” ‘Hello Goodbye’ is the band’s first single and has been made into a

striking music video clip which sees the band performing on the roof of Melbourne’s most prestigious business

skyscraper, 101 Collins Street. We believe no band has ever played this high in Australia before…

You’ll hear layers of intrigue and be seduced by genuine soul in tracks such as ‘Photographs’, ‘I Would Know Your

Name’, ‘Reason’, ‘Reminded’ and ‘Humbled’. Love, bitterness, loss, regret, spite and triumph these are some of

the emotions captured by Mosaik in its stunning debut. Feelings they want you to share. For this band, life is a

Mosaik of experiences…

Debut Mosaik LP ‘Zenith Valley’ available now at all good record shacks.

Daniel ‘Middlez’ Middlemiss

• I've never played competition sport?! ever. No basketball, tennis, footy, not even badminton! Lucky I’m musical. I still don’t really like competitive sports, instead I snowboard, skydive, all things that can be enjoyed by all with no losers.

• I was almost blind in one eye after being hit by pen thrown in high school – so the teachers are right to tell you off for doing it! (I had a sub-conjunctival hemorrhage)

• I’ve never had a musical/singing/instrument lesson in my life and I play drums and guitar and just getting into piano.

• My Great-Great-Grandmother on my fathers (English) side was a Gypsy! Romanichal, I believe. I was made for entertainment, growing crops, moving to the edge of town during winter and some casual fortune telling.

• I’m really flexible in some ways, like my thumbs can bend behind my hands, and knees so far that I can have my foot in my armpit, and backwards my head can almost touch the ground, but I cant touch my toes to save my life.

Matt ‘Thomo’ Thomson

• I lived in Oman for 3 years when i was a kid

• If i was born a girl i would have been named Sky

• At the end of the year I will be a qualified engineer

• If i had one wish i would still wish for more wishes even though the genie told me i can't wish for that

• I never pass up the chance to make new friends.

Kirby Young

• I've had 3 eye operations

• I'm red green colour-blind

• I was born on the same date as my pop

• Favourite scotch is 12 year old Dewar's (liked it ever since i watched the movie 'Swingers')

• I speak German. Mosaik (the way we spell it) is actually the German way of spelling it. "Mosaik ist mein Leben, und ich hoffe, dass Sie uns lieben!"

Will Prescott

• I was in Grease the Musical last year. I palyed Kenickie. Still have the Jacket with T-birds written on it.

• I used to record my own voice doing impersonations of people as a kid, then play back and perfect them. Teachers, actors, friends, anyone. When my voice finally broke it was a dream come true.

• One day I will own a DeLorean just like the one from Back to the Future. The key to my heart is telling me you enjoy those 3 movies.

• I was drunk when I wrote my first song - Shift. I'd come home after a big night, bitter about how things had turned out and away I went.

• I've had 6 car accidents in my 5 years of driving. It's not a good track record.
